Can someone explain Unemployment to me?

As y'all can see in the screenshots, unemployment goes from 0 to 6 across tiers in a few seconds. Is it supposed to be like this? Am i always gonna have unemployment now?

Are you playing the retail version or the open beta? Think what you describe is fixed in the latter and less confusing. ^^

In the current version, newly grown pops are the same strata as the group they grew from: basically, children of Rulers expect to grow up to also be Rulers, but obviously there are no extra Ruler openings, so they're just unemployed (and eventually demote).

In the beta, they instead immediately demote to Civilian.

In a sense, there are no unemployed pops. It's now a 'civilian' job which can imagine is just service industry or whatnot jobs. Stuff the game doesn't keep track of as a specific job.

There are still unemployed pops. They're just temporary, now, and they eventually demote to civilian.

If you close a large number of jobs, you still get unemployment problems.
