I have been trying to connect to a game via IP but it always says that my version doesn not match the hosted version.

I have 1.03b, ed_fix, and the event upgrade that the host has. I bypassed my router and zone alarm is down.

What can be causing this problem?? Please help.

I am stumped. I have both a dsl and a cable connection in my house, so I set up a computer on each. Did clean installs of vic 1.03b. Neither is behind a router, neither has firewall up. I know that one has the xp firewall disabled, the other doesnt have the same menu so I cant find it, but i think it defaults to off.

I am able to connect to vnet with both, and I am able to ping both ways, but anytime I try to host, whether on vnet or ip it says there is no hosted game at that address.

What am I doing wrong? Any advise would be great.

You sure? You have ed.fix and 1.03b.

yes, I have been trouble shooting this thing all day. It is beyond me why it doesnt work. I cannot connect between my 2 machines on different connections, but I can complete the directX directplay test just fine. Whenever I try to host, it just says there is no game at that IP.

I was able, however, to get it to work on my wirelessLAN, so it isnt the game it is something with my connection.

Anyone have suggestions??

check yor pm's

hopefully I can help a bit.

clean vic install, 1.03, beta, ed_fix. It isnt a problem with the install, at this point I am just trying to get it to connect to another computer that isnt on my lan period. I think my cable isp is blocking some ports, but I think the dsl is ok. Problem is, I need someone to test connect to to try it out so I can figure out which connection is the problem.

hmmm ok, i hope you can fixe it, as i said in PM try to contac with those guys and test the game, i would like to help you, but im going to trave today, ill be back on saturday (just in time to play!):)

One thing we did in our game when we got this problem, was that one of those able to connect packed down their entire db-directory and sent it to the one with problems. The one with problems then deleted his db-directory and packed out the received one in its' place. Also, remember you need to restart Vicky if you already had it running before you unpacked (quite a few fiules are read on game initialization).
