hello everybody, i'm new here .There is something i want to ask. I want to play as China in EU I Grand Campaign. I have modified the grand campaign scenario succesfully so that i can play as china. In addition i also put a shipyard in Tianjin and Edo ,therefore i can get 1 colonist peryear. Everything seem fine when suddenly i realise that i cannot expand my fortress !!! How can i surfive with those minimum fortress ????? ( Honestly , i want to eat those europan colonies when they arrive in southeast asia and india ^_^). So please help me, if anybody know what to do?

Hmm.. Otoh you can expand to small without increasing in technology.. but.. in EU1 (iirc) you are limited in what you can build if you are pagan.

I'll take a quick peek at the matter this evening.

Nikolai is right- same thing happened to me as Incas. Don't play as China. You won't have any exploration or defenses... nothing but huge armies and inflation :) This is because of the 'exotic' classification. You could change it to 'Latin'... or is that hardcoded?

It should be the 'exotic' that is the problem - or it might be hardcoded. Just fiddle around a while and get back to report, please? ;)

That's what I was saying... Exotic messes up your tech levels. I was wondering if you knew whether it was hardcoded, because I don't see it in any files other than, IIRC, creating a scenario. Since it's possible to edit this in the Scenario Editor, I doubt it's hardcoded.

I have- remember when you deleted one of my AARs about the Incas? It was deleted because of this- I couldn't upgrade my tech from 0 to 1. Therefore, no fortresses, period. Easy Spanish conquerization, as is their role in EU. It isn't TAG, as TAGs can be changed... I'm still trying to figure out whether tech level is hardcoded

What about the tech levels are you trying to find if it's hardcoded or not?

You mean military, naval, infra and the like??

I'm pretty sure they aren't hardcoded... haven't people made AARs on 'em before, where they fixed it?

Oh ho ho ho, China is no easy meal..... :p But as far as the American nations go, yeah pretty much. That's how it was historically, basically.

In the game, China has massive armies and AI'd massive fortresses. Meaning it isn't a piece of cake until you go in there with the level 43 land tech against their 3 land tech. Otherwise, exotic nations are the easiest to annex, yes.

it is not hardcoded

Hey guys,
I just finished an IGC campaign as China ( note's and pictures taken, so maybe an AAR in the future...). I changed religion and tech group for orthodox, which saved all of above mentioned problems. It can be done in savegame file.
Hope it helps
cheers
