So, ports/firewalls are not an issue here. Nothing has changed for either my or my friends' computers. We've played everyday for the past 3 days with no problems. Today we log on, I set up the server as per usual with the default server name and a password. She attempts to locate the server on the list and can't find it. Attempting direct join fails (i believe this is because the server id isn't alphanumeric and is just numeric, but that's less of an issue), and lastly neither steam mp invite nor steam join game are working. This is a two way road. We've tried everything with either of us hosting and nothing has worked. I suspect the reason for this has something to do with the new checksum. (fc5e) We both have 1.0.2 (fc5e). The closest we've come to joining is she said that one time she was trying to join it said "waiting for host to accept hot join request", however I didn't have the pop up box.
A prompt response/solution to this problem would be appreciated as it has broken the game.

EDIT: We have also tried new games as well, so it's not a save file glitch.

EDIT 2: We've managed to connect using direct join. This means that the games programming has somehow changed and bugged out and is not using correct server IDs OR the host programming is not bringing up the pop up for hot joins. Please fix.

Thanks,
Done.

My games actually start up, you mouse over the pause button and it will show you in game. In a lobby you mouse over the server icon.

My server ID never shows up. When I mouse over the server icon it says "Waiting for server ID". No one else can see the game at this point nor can I invite anyone. Can't start the game either because it says I'm not connected to matchmaking. It's been driving me off the wall that I can't host.

For those having similar issues, and play on steam:
  1. Have players restart and go to multiplayer screen
  2. Have host restart and go to multiplayer screen
  3. Have host create the multiplayer game with password
  4. Tell players to NOT refresh server list
  5. Do a steam invite for players.
  6. Tell players to accept the steam join, then IMMEDIATELY cancel the dialog that comes up in-game
  7. Now server will show up for players in the list automatically and can join with name/pass
Yes, multiplayer is completely broken right now :(
