Hello.

When I load up HoI 2 using the shortcut on the desktop or using the application in the folder, no scenarios or savegames appear in the single-player load screen. However, when I load up the game using the autoplay on the CD, it works fine. Normally, this wouldn't bother me, but I want to play around with some mods, and none of them are accessible.

I am running a Gateway with a Pentium-4 2 Gigahurtz processor, an GeForce MX 400 card, about 256 RAM, etc. But I think the real problem came up about 3 weeks ago when Windows XP downloaded a set of updates. I honestly can't remember when, but I do know that after the latest major XP update, things started going screwy. I tried to do system restore, but I had disabled that earlier for some reason. Any help to fix my HoI 2 problem would be appreciated.

Wipe the game from your system, just keep any saves you need first.
If the regular uninstall does not work for you then use the manual instructions from the sticky thread.

Then reinstall, and it should sort itself out.

Tried that, did not work.

What's more, I had HSR installed on my old install of HoI 2, and now I cannot delete the Paradox Interactive folder completely. It says that the Interface folder in the HSR directory is in use by another program, but that's beside the point. I deleted everything else and reinstalled HoI 2 under a new directory (C:\Program Files\Hearts of Iron 2\), but it still won't work. The game loads normally, but when I click on single player game, the scenarios, the flags, the save games simply aren't there .

if it says its in use restart ur pc then delete it as soon as ur pc is turned on and this way u will be able to delete that file

Ah you did not mention you had user made mods installed, we do not support them for obvious reasons. You need to check with the makers of that mod for help.

But you have it in there now, so it is preventing you from fixing the problem since you cannot delete the folder.

My suggestion is to ask them how to remove thier stuff, including registry entries.
Then follow the manual uninstall instructions. That way the registry will be deleted, then reinstall, and install to the default drive and folder.

What does not work deleting the folder, or scenario list?

Okay so lets recap.

You can now follow all the instructions in the uninstall thread.

You were able to delete all the folders associated with HOI2, including all the times you tried to install it in different folders, the folder where you installed any user mods ...

You then removed all registry entriesassociated with HOI2 and any mods you installed.

You then removed any install shield entries associated with HOI2 or any user mods you installed.

Then you reboot.

Then you install from the CD to the default drive and folder. then do nothing else.

Try the game, do the scenarios show up?

If yes then install the 1.2 patch and test again.
If No then post back here before doing anything else.
