Can't appoint a Grand Allamah

Description​

With the clerical appointment doctrine "Temporal, for Life", since the recent change it is no longer possible to appoint a realm priest, it gives the error message "Ash'arism does not have Revocable Clerical Appointments Doctrine." This is because the realm priest is now auto-filled on death to avoid it becoming vacant (which was fine before and I can't understand why it was changed) and the new realm priest can't be fired and replaced.

Steps to reproduce​

Start a game as any character with "Temporal, for Life" clerical appointment, eg basically any Muslim. Try to appoint a realm priest. Cry.

They answered this already here.
In 1.10 before latest patch in Temporal, for Life we could change the Realm Priest once after he was auto appointed.
Then at 1.11 they switched it to manual appoint which seemed better but caused side issues on Theocratic Doctrine faiths where a ruler AI on the one hand can't hold Temples himself but also didn't find someone to fill the position which led to most of my vassals having 0 levies and gold from Temple holdings for many years (because they hold it themselves but not allowed to hold it).
In 1.11.1 devs switched it back to auto appoint realm priests but unlike in 1.10 you can't replace them at all, identical now to Spiritual, for life doctrine completely. The Bug report I linked unfortunately shows that it is 'As Designed'.
