Can't choose race when loading into savegame

In our 4 people MP game we are experiencing a weird bug. One of us started as a machine empire. Whenever we would load a game (I started as the host), he couldn't choose his race. He had to save as observer and then host the savegame.

Now that my race did the synthetic evolution we both have that issue. Whoever hosts can play his race, but the other machine/synthetic empire can't choose his race when loading up.

Anyone know a workaround? Could I edit something in the savegame or alike?

We have had the same issue, where I couldn't choose my race when we loaded a game. We fixed it by changing the race in the savefile to one that didn't require a dlc.

In our case we located the problem since it happened in two games in a row, and in both of them I was a plantoid race.
