Have you successfully connected to it before? What version and checksum show on the main game menu?
That said, I've seen several reports that people haven't been able to connect since 1.05c, although I don't know how confirmed that is. And don't forget you can always play via Direct IP - in fact most games organised here are played that way. If you were hoping to get a pick-up game direct on the metaserver, they basically don't happen - they too are organised in the MP forum.

Yes I have connected before, but I have also been unable since 1.05c. Checksum is REVP. Thank you for the tips.

I have this same problem. I just bought this game today so I havent been able to try connecting before. I updated the password of forum to metaserver by clicking that icon after registering game. I dont know if there is some delay before my metaserver account opens.
I've just noticed this now, as I thought I would try multiplayer. I realize this has been reported a number of times though, so I will wait until it is fixed.
I am having the same problem. I have 1.05d (REVP) and I can't connect to the metaserver.
It's not a bug, at least not with the game. We here have nothing to do with the metaserver; I suggest you log a ticket direct with PI support at paradox.zendesk.com .
i found out that my CK2 is permanently connected to the metaserver, you can check that out when going on "my games" on this website, have written a ticket to the PI support.
The golden lock does not mean that your GAME is permanently connected to the metaserver, it means that it is supported to connect to the metaserver when you choose that option in the game menus. Clicking on that lock just syncs your forum and metaserver passwords, that's all it does.
