I just bought a new netbook. I installed Victoria Complete(after purchasing yet another copy of it). The initial Bink video will play, but after that it posts a critical error message. I click ignore, but the game crashes.

I think the problem has something to do with the screen resolution. The screen resolution is 1024x600. I noticed that the settings application has zero options for what resolution I could play the game.

Also, I opened the setting.cfg file and noticed that the first three lines say -1,0,0

Is there anything I can do to get the game to work? The netbook easily meets the minimum requirements; I am certain the resolution issue is crashing the game.

How do I install it to Windowed mode?

Thanks!

The game runs at a minimum resolution of 1024x768 which most netbooks don't do (usually 1024x600 or 1280x720).
Windowed mode is only possible in this game by hacking the exe file.
What you need to do is go to Windows display properties and uncheck the box for 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display'. This is on the 'monitor' tab of the advanced settings in XP; not sure where you find it in Vista/7. This will let you use the physical screen as a 'window' to the larger game screen.
