Description​

I was able to play the game with the latest hotfix. I play with the console enabled (with the - debug_mode launch option). I clicked on the error reporter to create an error log. This crashed the game and I was subsequently unable to restart the game due to a disk write error thrown up by steam.

I eventually decided to completely uninstall the game and manually deleted all Vic3 files from my computer. Now steam will download the game and begin to install but stops at 74% and after a few moments gives a disk write error.

I have tried everything suggested for this issue as a steam problem without it resolving anything and am therefore asking for assistance here.

It is certainly a Steam problem, I'm surprised they could not or would not help you with this.

Please do a full clean re-install of Steam AND game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- exit the Steam app completely
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- delete everything in the Steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

Thanks for the help. The issue turned out to be my antivirus app (not defender though.) I did not think of this as I thought it would have notified my before blacklisting the vicky3 exe.

Your suggestion made me check and this solved the installing problem. Currently trying the new patch and expansion.
