Can't offer military assistance

Description​

I played as an adventurer and offered military assistance to a ruler. I stomped out his enemies and my employer won the war. I'm not sure if I got paid though - and when I tried to enter another war later, I couldn't because I was "already assisting militarily in a war". When I died and my heir took over, I could assist in wars again, but when I did, the same thing happened.

Steps to reproduce​

- Offered military assistance to a ruler.
- Was on the winning side of the war.
- Couldn't offer assistance again.
- Did the same thing with my heir.

Virtually same thing just 1 difference. In a random quest I ended up assisting a king. Soon after he offered me a 3 star contract to assist him in his war. My army barely got there by the time he won. I also was unsure if I got paid because there didn't seem to be a notification for it.
My only option is "offer to join war" for friendship.
