Cannot play a converted save game.

I think this goes here?

I am using 1.4a patch. No mods. I convert a game to EU2, but when I go to open it in EU2, it gives errors. I am just wondering if the converted ever really works, or if I'm doing something wrong? I don't know if the year matters, I tried converting aroudn 1088 or so. Off the top of my head (I'm not at my computer) the first error I got when opening the converted save is in line 21, where it has what countries you can select. I fixed that myself. Seems like EU2 didn't like the country tag used in the file? I took out the slots in the file and replaced them with one I knew would work and it worked up to then. After being able to select a country and click start, it CTDs on me giving me an error about an alliance.

I'm going to have to start a new game as it CTDed while I was trying to save and I can't open that save now and I didn't have autosave on. Can I be the only person with this problem?

What version of Eu2 do you have? You need preferably 1.09, as older versions don't have all the required tags.
Also, are you sure you opened the exported game? You might have tried opening a CK savegame, this is why I always save my exported games as export1 etc.

The year does not matter. What you have to do is place the exported scenario from CrusaderKings\scenarios\eu2 in the EU2\Scenarios folder (NOT savegames).

Also make sure you have the 1.08 or 1.09 patch for EU2 installed: many of the new country tags used by the exporter do not exist in older versions.

I have the 1.09 patch for EU2. And I moved the exported save to my EU2 save game folder. Just looking at the file though it feels wrong to me comparing it to a normal EU2 save file.

Oh, senarios folder, not save game file. I see. I will do that when next I am able to. Thanks.

Gah, I hate to make me out to be a liar, but I did think that I had EU21.09. I will patch and update..

Wow, that's beautiful. Thanks for all the assistance everyone. You almost brought a tear to this semi-noobs eye, but not quite.. Well, on with the show!

Glad it worked out for you.

Well, I had that war with Germany, and it went ok, up until the money got into the -2000 range and some of my vassels started to rebel. I won the war versus Germany ( and England too by the way ) and headed up to lend aid to my beleaguered breathren. Mostly the vassels from Sweden were revolting. After a few years it seems to get worse, so I decided to load from the last autosave. In the game that loaded, my king had somehow died, and the Duke from Sweden was elected king ( whose perspective was now mine somehow ), and half the revolting provinces weren't rebeling, so it was easy to quash the ones that still were. I noticed that my first heir was from my original dynasty (and that's who I wanted to be, not this new guy), so I hatched a plan that would ultimately lead me and my kingdom down the everlasting spiral of doom. Of course at the time I didn't realize it, but I was. I gave some titles away so that my rep and loyalties would go up a little, and proceded to declare war on a random moslim nation in Spain. I sent my new king's regiment down there alone, hoping he would be killed, but no, it wasn't to be so simple a deal. After his regiment lost a couple battles, he disbanded and returned to Skane with his troops. I couldn't redeploy after that for some reason (?) but by that time, the moslims were up in Hammburg. I had no deployable army left, and no money (-2800 ducats). Thus it was, that the sprial of doom encompassed me and my kingdom.

Sorry this is a bit AARish...

Edit: Oh, and my efficiency was 0% too.
