Crashing even after system restart + game reinstall

As per title. I was playing all right some two hours ago. After exiting the game, I couldn't start it again, I got the runtime error some time after seeing the blue logo shield.

I verified local game cache via Steam's tools, as that seemed to be the obvious solution and used to help before (i.e. with runtime errors I experienced some time ago). Nope. Not even after restarting. Reinstalling didn't help either. So basically I can't play the game any more.
