You can find all the info about your system that you need by running Dxdiag at the run prompt. You can then save that info to file and post a copy here if needed.

Is your color depth set to 16BIT?
Is your fontsize set to 96dpi?

Nothing pops out at me, Try adjusting the acceleration on your video card.

Couple of ways to do it. One is within dxdiag, on the video screen you will see a slder for acceleration.
Another thing you may want to try is a higher refresh rate.
