Not sure if this is different than others with similar problems, but I've tried what's been posted.
Bought the game on Steam. When I click "Play" from Steam, I get a window that says "Welcome to Crusader Kings II," and tells me that as of 2012-03-15 Patch v.1.04c is available. Which seems weird, as Steam should patch the game automatically. Anyway, the only two options from this window are "Register" (I have) and "Start CKII".
When I click Start CKII, the screen goes black, the music starts for 1 second, and then it crashes to desktop with a "CK2 has stopped working" message.
I have already manually installed the right C++ from vcredist.exe in the Crusader Kings ii folder.
Any other suggestions? It is not a hardware issue, my rig plays Skyrim on ultra etc.
