Hi,

I read the sticky about this, and have followed all of the instructions, but I cannot uninstall HOI2: Doomsday.

When I select Uninstall from the startup menu, I get a message about catastrophic failure. I was able to uninstall Armageddon without incident, though. I found the sticky and did as instructed, but I still cannot get the game out of the list of programs in the add/install programs box.

Here it is, step by step:

Code:
You have to manually delete a key in your registry. You do that by starting regedit (Start => Run => regedit => Enter) and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Paradox Interactive" and delete the Hearts of Iron key. It looks like a folder in regedit.(If you have applied more than one Patch then there might be more than one key).
If you are nervous about editing the Registry then get someone to do it for you. However if you only delete the above key(s) no harm will be done.

I did that, no problem.

Code:
Also delete the directory C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 2.
EDIT: or if you did not use the default directory, then what ever directory you installed the game to.

I did that too, no problem.

Code:
InstallShield creates a directory where it keeps all the information on installed software. On my machine it is 'C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information'

'InstallShield Installation Information' is marked as hidden so to be able to find it you have to change folder options on you PC to show hidden files (For instructions on this see the next post). Search for files containing 'Hearts' in this directory and you will find a file called 'Setup' with the following content:

[Startup]
AppName=HOI2
Engine=0
Copy=1
Source=0
[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=1
key0=0x0009

* For Doomsday search for 'Doomsday'

This has proven difficult, thus far. I have checked every directory in the InstallShield Installation Information, no luck. Can anyone help me with this? Or explain why the uninstall feature doesn't work for this game?

Thanks,

Chris

EDIT: Sorry for the lousy job with the code tags. Anyway, I found and deleted the directory as instructed from the InstallShieldInformation directory, but Doomsday still appears in my list of programs to be uninstalled. Can anyone tell me how to get it out of there? When I hit the Change / Remove button, nothing happens.

Thanks,

You need to delete the installshield folder. Mine DD installshield folder has the following "name": {69464949-AD9C-4C98-933F-C32FFC86F3C8}

The setup.ini info is:

[Startup]
AppName=Doomsday
ProductGUID=69464949-AD9C-4C98-933F-C32FFC86F3C8
Engine=0
Copy=1
Source=0

[Languages]
Default=0x0009
count=1
key0=0x0009

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did delete the folder, I still have Doomsday appearing in my list of programs.

Thanks for any help.
