I'm playing a game as Japan at the moment, and loving it :), the events and new unit system are/is fantastic.

However, whilst building up my carrier forces, I've noticed that CV-3 has better all-round stats then CV-5, better sea/air defence, better attack ability, a greater range of sight. The only adv. the CV-5 has is a LOWER cost and greater range...this being offset by much larger oil useage.

I immediately stopped producing 2 CV-5's and replaced them with Akagi class CV-3's...

Why is this? Surely the newer the CV, the better it should be?
I've noticed similiar things with DD/CL's, although as some DD's are air orientated and some sea orientated this is more understandable.

Don't get me wrong, loving the mod and loving the moer complicated naval system...it just seems strange, any comments on this?

Also, is the amount of planes a carrier can hold modelled in CORE? If a CV-5 could carry near a hundred planes whilst a CV-3 could only hold say 40, and this was modelled, I'd understand, so is it?

I've actually got a strategy question also as far as carriers go. It takes 65 days, and 2.3 IC to produce a CV-1, whilst it takes over 5 IC to produce CV-3/5, and between 550-650 days. As this is the case, would a viable strategy be to produce say 3 CV-1's for every better one. I understand they are weak, but at those rates you could have 10 churning out every 2 months or so.

Sooo, quantity or quality gentlemen, keeping in mind the CAG is the same on either vessel?

I'm not sure which lvl CVs it is, but for each level tech, you get 2 CV types: One the Armored Deck fleet carrier, and the other the wooden deck carrier. For US (and Japan?) the wooden deck carriers should, for the most part, have the named class, for UK the armored deckers should be named classes. Armored deck carriers have less range and cost more, while have almost all combat stats greater. The other ones have more range and less cost. In addition, one lvl Carriers has greater surface atttack base value and firing range base value, while another lvl has great air attack base value.

The problem with that is that the armored deck carriers should carry fewer aircraft. Is this modeled?
