With event changing the relevant provinces religion from Good Catholic to Burn-In-Hell Heretics I guess... Or maybe they have some cool Heretic Engine which will automatically spawn random heretical movements. BTW, can you still choose to follow these movements and become a Cathar Count or somthing?

Yes, Yes, Yes, please :>

I wanna play as Pedro of Aragon, unite the southern coast of France under my crown, as a vassal to the pope... and then adopt Catharism as my state religion!

Feel the burn!

I would love to play an Aryan monarch (the Aryan religion, that is :p ) or perhaps a Paulican... so many heresies so little time...

I hope there's a 'Heresy Maker' where you can construct your cult's doctrine. Sod the Cathars, I want to be a Goat Sex Donatist.

Intresting idea.. if religion is like in EU2 with various modifiers.. Perhaps our dear designers could leave a few open heresy slots..?
Then we, the community, could combine our twisted minds for new fun heresies ;)

Then again, perhaps a good, pious Catholic monarch striving relentlessly to crush all forms of heresy might be more my cup of tea
BTW, Cathar Pope, anyone?

Uh, unless you're thinking of the Nazis, you probably mean Arian. That's how the heresy was spelled, not 'Aryan'. ;)

But regardless, I had thought that was all but elimitated before the game's time frame. I'm not sure I'd expect to see it in the game....

No, seriously, I would love to play an insane f**ked-up mix of christianity, olde norse gods, generic mysticism and all-out crazy racial crap. :p
But don't you go thinking that Arianism is dead! Just because those Vandals gave it a bad name and then went and died doesn't mean our brave Faith is dead! There are actually still some worthshippers around in the Balkans, you know... :p

Yes, it was pretty well gone once the old Roman Empire had pretty well crumbled away. Although there are theories (which I cannot at the moment substantiate without my books, so please trust me, or not) that as the remaining Arians were displaced from the "orthodox" empire many of them ended up influencing expanding Islam.
