The Spanish Civil War (1936–) broke out with a military uprising in Morocco on July 17, triggered by events in Madrid. Within days, Spain was divided in two: a "Republican" or "Loyalist" Spain consisting of the Second Spanish Republic (within which were pockets of revolutionary anarchism and Trotskyism) and a "Nationalist" Spain under the insurgent generals, and, eventually, under the leadership of General Francisco Franco. So begins an important and turbulent chapter in the history of Spain.

That is quite a short intro... Did you accidently hit post? :)

I had already started the game when I decided to try my hand at an AAR, so I'm having to go back to recreate some screen shots. I hope to have an update later today.

Here is the game set up:

HOI2 Doomsday Arma 1.3 beta
DAIM
1936 GC
Normal/Furious
No Cheats

Wish me luck!

Amazing. Another Spanish AAR in less that 24 hours or so.

July 18, 1936 aboard a transport from Spanish Morocco to Sevile General Franco consults with his officers:

Revolution has spread like wild fire accross Spain Generalissimo Franco . The republicans have just about twice our number in fighting men concentrated in Tarragona (15 divisions of mixed militia and infantry). There are two divisions in Bilbao including an elite mountain division and one lone cavalry division in Malaga. We have six divisions in Seville (1 infantry and 5 militia), three militia in Saragossa, one division in Madrid, one division fleeing Bilbao for Huesca and two infantry divisions in Barcelona.

Franco stared at the map in complete silence for a while before addressing his subordinates.

This could easily turn into a very long and bloody war. If we move fast, I believe we can cut the main Republican army off from supply and starve them into submission. We have transports in Barcelona and La Coruna. We will drive into Guadalajara from Madrid and land in Valencia and Murcia, securing their capital. Our forces in Seville will drive east and west linking up with our forces in Murcia. We have already had men flock to our calling and undoubtedly will have more in the coming weeks. We will send word of the army's plans to our leaders in Burgos. It is my intent to restore to Spain her rightful empire.

In Burgos, the Nationalist leaders begin researching Aircraft carriers and industrializing. Though the war is primary concern today, we must be ready for tommorow.

I recommend you to keep always open editor (like notebook) and copy your text there from time to time.

Sometimes your text could be saved if you just back on previous page.

Interesting, subscribed.
Too bad for the lost update though.

July 18th:

War costs money and we have none. Burgos approaches Berlin, Rome and Tokyo for help. Only Japan sees any benefit at the moment and agrees to trade us money for supplies. The Tarragona army attacks and routs our militia in Saragossa sending them fleeing to Huesca to regroup.

July 19th:

We land in Valencia under cover of night and move into the Republican capital unopposed sending the govenment fleeing.

July 20th:

Transports make port in Seville. Our force attacks Malaga and fight it out for a day and half before the enemy cavaly breaks. Our army then splinters off with one division continuing on to Malaga, one division moving on Jaen and three divisions boarding transports.

July 21st:

Although intently watching the conflict just over their border, France denies assistance to the Republicans. The Soviets, however rally to the communist cause. May they all rot together!

Burgos has been courting assitance as well and the Italian answer comes swiftly.

Three divisions of infantry and one light armor division land in Burgos with another unit of bombers basing in La Coruna. We imediately begin bombing Bilbao. The italian army makes for Saragossa.

July 22nd:

Fearing an escalation of events, the UK refuses the Republican plea for assistance.

July 23rd:

Seeing the Soviet response as a blatant attempt to spread bolshevism, Germany sends a Panzer division as well as the "condor legion" to assist us. We quickly rebase the bombers to Valencia and begin bombing Taragonna with the German tanks making for Saragossa with great haste.

Our division from Bilbao arrives is Huesca and immediately comes under attack. Two divisions from Seville make an unopposed landing at Murcia.

July 24th:

Our force in Huesca loses a valliant fight against superior forces, retreating toward Saragossa, but not before greatly disorganizing the attackers. Our retreating forces from Saragossa arrive just in time, halt the Republican advance and turn them back.

July 25th:

We make a landing at Huelva and meet no resistance until we push inland. Our force comes under attack by a superior enemy and falls back to Seville. We rebase our Italian air group to Valencia in order to escalate bombing on Tarragona.

July 26th:

Huesca once again comes under attack, but the offensive stalls before making any progress. The Republican army is beginning to fall apart from the lack of supply and sustained bombing.

July 27th:

We ask Germany to ally with us and are rejected. It seems Berlin is not convinced we will come out of this war victorious, despite their help.

July 28th:

We transport two divisions to Barcelona from Murcia.

July 29th:

Huesca once again comes uner attack and once again proves unbreakable. The italians arrive in Saragossa as well as the Germans.

July 30th:

At 0600 our troops land at Taragona supported from Barcelona, Huesca, and Saragossa. Our bombs rain down on the enemy units with the effect of sending the Republican Army in a chaotic retreat in the only direction they can, herded like cattle.

August 1st:

With the Republican army in head long retreat, at 0300 we land one division at Bilbao supported from huesca and Saragossa. Four hours later the army in Taragonna has been completely routed.

August 3rd:

Bilbao falls at 1000 and Burgos demands the complete surrender of Republican forces.

After Barely 17 days, the war is over. Franco's hailed as a hero.

17 days is impressive. How does the SCW play out in HoI 2 terms? If you start as RS and build units who gets what when the event fires?

Any plans for the future, now that Spain has some three years to rebuild before the World War? Are you thinking of joining the Axis? Or maybe the Allies?

17 day's was very impressive if I do say so myself. If the main Republican army hadn't been in Taragona I don't think I could have cut off their supply and defeated them so quickly, if at all. I was a bit surprised that germany refused an alliance with me just before the end of the war. That's alright, I'm persistant :)

I need to secure a supply of every resource since my home land is lacking a bit. I have a few ideas of how I'm going to accomplish this, so we shall see.
