I will try another post on the tech support forum, and see if it gets the attention it clearly deserves.

Are there plans to send out so called 'cd keys' for people who have bought EIC from Steam?

Just so that we could add it to our owned games list here on paradox forums, so we could have neat little icon under our name... ;)

ps. Some games on steam do have this option. I have absolutely no clue how it works on your publisher/dev and retailer (steam) side (it might be extra option costing you guys extra, in which case it is quite understandable if it is omitted, since it is not required to actually play the game), but for the end user it is as simple as right-clicking your steam product and taking 'show cdkey' option. Most strikingly, it is there for example in such famous products as Hearts of Iron 3, Dawn of War 2 or even Sword of the Stars series... just as a helpful reference :)

You, I and many others are in the same boat. Why doesnt Steam show my update status and the Developer ? When the update is clicked it only shows Steam updates. Also I would have thought the Developer would push Steam for a fix so it shows their name...they are proud of it arent they ???

I should add the game is updating automatically, it just doesnt show its status eg 1.05.
There are some more points on this subject under the sticky "Patch Info". In that sticky it wont go away and perhaps someone in authority will have the courtesy to answer us instead of ignoring us. We did, after all, give them our money.

Mail Steam support and Paradox support and ask both to fix the problem. They should meet in the middle.

By EIC you mean Nitro Games or Paradox?

It's a big problem that Steam users don't have keys, they can't read Tech Support forum if they don't have any games registered here so if EIC is their first they have no real support for the game itself.

They said EIC, and it takes so long to get a reply I dont feel like asking them...
People in other Paradox forums are convinced that some posts have been removed because the person did not have a registered copy, esp the big forums like EUIII.

I tried logging out and I was still able to read the EIC Tech Support forum.
Isnt Tech Support only for people with a registered copy, as in ask a question and get an answer ? Being unregistered means someone else has to ask a question on your exact problem and the answer has to solve your problem without follow up questions? Somewhat unlikely from my experience with computers, esp in the first couple of months of release of a game.

Clearly this is not the case with EIC. If it were then you and would be unable to view or post in this forum. That's how it works for EUIII & HoI3

But then I too would like to know what the story is with CD keys on Steam. I'm about to buy EIC on Steam but will hold off if there's some confusion on this point

Try posting in the HoI3 Tech Support forum

What HoI3 Tech Support forum ?
I cant even read it..does it exist ?
I did find this though, in several Paradox game forums :

Why you should register:

When you register the game you are allowed full access to the Tech Support, Bug Reports, Multiplayer and User modifications subforums.

In addition to that, you gain access to the FAQ (which includes the Strategy guide), tech support, bug reporting, multiplayer and user modifications subforums.

NOTE: You will not receive any support on the forum unless you register!
This is because Paradox wants to avoid wasting time tracking down bugs that only exist in illegal copies.

:)

Oh, I guess third-party titles don't get as strict a forum policy as Paradox titles. I was certain all those guys asking in the main forum were doing so because they can't see Tech Support up above. My mistake.

About Steam, someone from Paradox should probably give them the full kit with NG and EIC icons and also the official keygen so they can give CD-keys to customers even if they aren't necessary for Steam.

It's a good way of promoting the game to let people on this forum (usually strategy geeks, which is most of EIC target group!) see a crowd of folks running with EIC icon under their avatars. It makes them curious what this EIC thing is and it leads to them checking what it is... and soon they will have EIC icons under their avatars too and they will be bitching about the economic model just like every strategy geek always does no matter how complicated a game you throw at them. It's the way we express happiness and appreciation. :)

Any word on being able to register copies purchased on Steam?

What HoI3 Tech Support forum ?

Exactly. You can't see it (or post in it obviously) because you haven't registered HoI3. Rest assured that the HoI3 Tech support forum does exist but only those who have registered that particular game have permission to view and post in it. So simply registering one game does not give you access to every 'hidden' forum

Clearly, as I said above, this does not apply to this particular forum. It may not apply to third party titles at all

*bump*

Is there a solution yet?

Why can't NITRO just give us a key when we show them the steam receipt?
