Hello! The following question ...: I would like to change the designations / names of the units in general! For this purpose, I have adjusted the entries in the "unitnames" file on a trial basis (e.g. "10. Infantry-Division" to "Infantrydivision"). However, after the production of units, this name is not used (instead of "10. Infantry-Division", e.g. "8. Inf... Div.") in the game? How can I change the names of armies and units so that they are used in the game?

I have a question, in case there are no unit names for a country or all of them are used in game, the game produces generic names like 1st Inf. Div. and so on.
Are those hardcoded? or are they also somewhere in a file?

I know of a terribly inefficient way to find out (but effortless).

There is an amazing program called search everything. Imagine if the search function in windows worked perfectly. (Takes two seconds, find absolutely everything), that's what that is.

It will allow you to search inside text files as well, but warns you that it is not built for that, and that it will take time. Running it in the background isn't very disruptive at all, though.
You should be able to figure out if it exists in a file using that program, and you should have it anyway because it seriously is a must have.

db folder:
airnames > air unit stack names
armynames > land unit stack names
navynames > naval unit stack names
unitnames > names for any unit type
Thanks for answer! I already thought that it would have to be these files but ... I changed the entries, for example in the "unitnames" all entries for the infantry such as "1st Infantry Division", "2nd Infantry- Division "etc. in" Infantry Division ", because I want to switch off the numbering ... but unfortunately this does not achieve the desired effect! When new (infantry) units are produced, the system / game continues to number the units "funny"! .... is there another solution, if necessary? does something else have to be changed? The same applies to the "armynames" etc .....

The reason is simple; You have a generic naming system. Your file has a single entry - copied in multiple lines.
When a unit is completed the game will pick a non used name of the file. The next unit will pic the next different name in the file.
So when all units are called "Infantriedivision" the game will name a single division" Infantriedivision" and the rest will use the generic hardcoded naming system because the name "Inf.div" is blocked.

Thanks for the super fast response! I "feared" something like that ... that means that I cannot achieve what I actually want to achieve by making changes / editing, because the "logic" system prevents this! Pity! I'm a "fanatic of order" and if army corps or armies have "herbs and beets" numbering on the units, it just looks stupid (for me) ! ;-))
