Hey, I was wondering if changing your character/dynasty to another culture is possible without swearing fealthy in the mod?

Also congrats on the sub-forums, the external forums weren't exactly user friendly.

Using the console for actual gameplay is out of the question in this case. I was thinking something along the way culture is transmitted from guardian to child in vanilla.

Are you playing ironman? If not, console and save editing is the way to go. Otherwise there's not much you can do because culture change is very unreliable.

No I'm not playing ironman, using the console or save editing just doesn't give me the sense of achievement that actually accomplishing a long term goal in the game does.

What would be these very unreliable ways of culture change?

I assumed guardian to ward cultural transfer had been disabled since I was unable to make it happen with a relatively small sample size but that would contradict the liege pushing for guardian of his culture & faith -event that I've experienced in previous playthroughs. Lacking the know-how to actually see if it was enabled or not I came here looking for answers.

The original question may have not been that well phrased, you must excuse me as english isn't my first language. Anyway, the question I propably should have originally asked is if children actually can pick up the culture of their guardian or if there is any other way of changing your culture without swearing fealthy, console commands or save editing?

Yes children can change their culture to that of their guardian. There's a better chance of the event firing if the guardian is Diligent or Gregarious, both is even better. There is also an event where you assimilate into the local culture if your capital has a different culture than you, though there are some restrictions on this: For instance it will never fire for characters of any of the Valyrian cultures. Those are the only ways to change culture that I know of, aside from the console and save editing.

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know.
