I understand some of you have put alot of hours into making unit sprites for FtG, so please don't flame me for what I'm about to ask... how do I get the unit sprites from eu2? :)

Comparing the two folders I can see that they do not contain exactly the same files - some are missing and some are added.

I don't think moddir worked with sprites in eu2, does it work in FtG? If not, I'm thinking the easiest way would be to delete them all. If it does, then how do I make my folder supercede the original folder?

Finally, what sprites are the default sprites so to speak, the ones the game can not run without, the ones the game defaults back too when it can not find a matching set? Also, has there been any change in the naming convention from eu2 to FtG?

Naming wasn't entirely consistent in EU2, but has been made now unter FTG since this makes it easier to handle the sprites.

I never tested with moddir, so if this works you maybe can just make a mod that is FTG+EU2 unit sprites, provided you have EU2. Maybe Yoda or someone who did more modding can answer if moddir works with sprites.

But it can be rather tedious to replace all. You'd have to look into FTG's db/countries.txt to see under the gfx entries for army and navy what sprites each country uses. You need then the EU2 sprites covering all those tags, or you change the countries.txt so that all countries will use only the tags coming with EU2 sprites

Thanks!

I'm going to try cool-toxics country converter on eu2s original country.csv file and then keep only the sprites declared in there. Can't be that many. I hope. :)

Considering interface/palette and font mods are spread out all over the install directory I don't think FtGs moddir supports this any better than eu2. Could perhaps be a future patch wish - keep the mods in the mods folder! :)

After some experimenting I've got sprites working with moddir. Now I have some questions. :)

1. What information is in the army sprite palettes? As of now I simply copied the original palettes from eu2.

2. What is the naming convention of sprites in FtG? For readabilities sake it ought to be Country-Action-Era-Direction. Seems some changes has been done from eu2 but it's still jumbled. There are some sprites where the direction comes before the era and vice versa.
