What is the reason for reducing the size?

I am not sure about deleting all history on all characters. Wouldnt it be better to delete characters dead from a few generations ago, maybe grandfathers and grandmothers onwards?

Reducing/eliminating titles, traits and character events would help reduce them.

I don't think that you'll get many bytes off the size by deleting character history..

Are you getting problems due large save files or why you want to reduce the size?

I think the savegame size can be trimmed noticeably by removing character history, pondered about it myself a long time ago. The problem is how to do it to not affect the game significantly, it has to be done selectively.

For a living character whose all ancestors are dead already grandparents and older ancestry can be deleted, as Hardradi suggested. No character who was a ruler should be deleted, and the ruling family should be extempt in monarchies.

Note that generals are listed for their battles too, not sure if the war exhaustion isnt calculated from the recent battles.

Well, I did a mass delete and sizes went from 35 mb to 15 mb. So quite sizeable. Of course that probably cut out a lot of important stuff.

Hmm, so it's safe to delete everything whose a grandparent or older of a current living character, except for rulers and ruling families? (Could the characters be wiped? Or just history?)
