I don'tknow if this is something for just EEP or the whole game, but do the computers cheat on their religion sliders? Using 1.42, I was just glancing at Austria, and I noticed all of their provinces have the -4 to RR you get from maxed religion, and they have literally six different religions under their domain. What's going on here?

Not an EEP issue. AI countries get sliders for ALL religions (e.g., bhuddist, confusionan etc.)

Did you mean that they get all religion (10 totally if am not mistaken) sliders AND they can have them all at -4 level? Since to have just all religion sliders would not be simply enough to put six of them at -4 level under normal rules.

I suspect they might not have had -4 for all six. But then again the code may have changed - I'm remembering an earlier patch.

Isn't there anything that could be done? It is VERY unfair. I recently played a game with Scotland, and saw England with -4 religious tolerance for catholic, protestant and reformed provinces, while I was having a hard time dealing with my catholic Irish provinces and my reformed Scottish cores.

Another thing: in that same game, I went bankrupt TWICE because I was forced to keep a large Scottish army (England was ALWAYS attacking me). I ended up with an inflation of ~100%, until I started promoting governors.

I managed to conquer England and Wales, but sometime during the XVI century two English provinces rebelled and became independent (I conquered one and signed a peace treaty with England). That province was stuck in the middle of four or five "Scottish" (anglo) provinces, so England couldn't send those troops anywhere.

My problem was that after declaring independence and with peace signed, England, with only ONE province (with a province income of about 15$) built in 9 or 10 years an army of 47.000 CAVALRY. How in the hell could they support such a large army, when I - owning now almost all of Ireland (Castille had Ulster) and all of Britain (except for that one province), and owning most of the eastern coast of North America, could only afford ~30.000 (most of them infantry) ?!!!

To make things worst, England was investing into research: they had the most modern army in Europe!

After colonising most of North America with an inflation-ridden Scotland, I gave up. It would take me about 100 years to reduce the inflation to a tolerable level (when I gave up it was at 88%).

Incidentally, I only got 2 (!!!) "extraordinary year events" (-10 inflation) in 200 years! I started a new Portugal game, and I already had 2 of those events in much less than 100 years... Was I just unlucky with Scotland, or is there a way to make those events more frequent?

I found it VERY VERY hard to play with Scotland. Not because of the English threat (even though fighting England means keeping the sliders at 100% for several years and still losing -7 or -8 every month), but because I was constantly having stability hits one time after another. I probably went 150 years without reaching stab. 3 (!!). And the Scottish events suck big time. University of Glasgow gives 150$ to Infra? That is the same as nothing.

Anyway, my whole point is: how can AI nations with only one province maintain armies well over 20.000 soldiers, when I can't keep armies over 9.000 with Scotland's four provinces? And why can the AI playing with Scotland keep a Scottish army of 25.000 soldiers, when they don't even own Ireland?!

No, we cannot change that.

The AI cheats on maintenance, you could play with Paradox patch 1.06 to have equal rules, but then you'll miss a lot of other stuff that is changed recently.

Doesn't sound too bad. Any inflation hating economist would think that 88% inflation in 200 years is a wet dream. It's easier to accumulate inflation now than before. You were basically unlucky with Scotland. The events can be triggered manually by using the cheat window, then you can get as many as you want.

To me it sounds like a great game, but that's all about taste of course. Remember that you played a state that historically got annexed so it shouldn't be easy. You seem to have done all right. If you want easier going, play a bigger state, England? The Foundation of Glasgow University is equally good in 1.4.2a to all other university foundation events in the game, it got beefed up from 1.4.2. It should mostly be a flavour event.
