Checksum problems on multiplayer - unable to play

well me and my pal have both DD installed, on windows vista 64bit, we both have 1.3a patch installed, but my pal's checksum is different from mine (I have the normal JCJS) But he has VCQX?

therefore we're unable to play together

apparently I have sp1 installed and he doesn't though.

Your friend has modified something in the game that causes the checksum to change (a Mod etc).

That is why the checksum is different.

Have your friend uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy of HOI2 and the checksum should come out as JCJS

no he hasn't got any mods installed, just got the game and installed straight from the cd.
