I play as Genoa, all settings on normal. I am not sure if Genoa was ruled by a council or by aristocrats at the time, but for convenience I decided to have a council ruling the city. As this minor you can do little at the beginning, but I hope the action will unfold soon enough. For now, most of the records are comprised of observing the other countries.

The Council of the great city of Genoa, queen of the Ligurian Sea has come together today to agree on a new city agenda.
In this time of quarrels between the small states of the great country of Italy, country of our Roman forefathers, in this time of other nations seeking conquest and domination, in this time of new hopes, discoveries and explorations, both scientifically and globally, in this time our city must remain strong to stem the tide of change.
To achieve this, the city council convenes the following:
- Italy must be united.
- Italy must be defended against any outside agression.
- the Catholic Faith, the only True Faith, must be spread to countries that are yet unaware of its blessings.
How to achieve these goals will be the decision of the city council, however, it is strongly advised that unless our city has the means to seriously enforce its intentions by violence, diplomatic decisions shall be seeked.
Our eternal allies, Tuscany, Parma and the Knights of St. John shall be at our side, freeing the way for a free Italy.
The city council convenes further that raising money for diplomatic actions is imperative. However, trade in Genoa, investments in infrastructure and research of new technologies of trade must not be neglected.
The first goal will be to make Milan part of the Genoese realm.
