I was wondering how the difficult relation between major cities (like Brugge:D ) and the dukes or other nobles will be handled.

Some cities were given 'rights' to rule themself. There is also the influence of the guilds.

As CK is focusing on the dynasties of nobles I would be suprised if there was no interaction with the cities or guilds...

I think the relationship wasn't exactly good. There certainly was the occasionaly looting of cities by some broke noble.

With only the mention of provinces and not cities, I'm not sure if individual cities will have a personality other than to be a part of a province as in EU. Vassals will "own" provinces which will have a mixture of the different social strata. So my guess would be that the count who has Brugge would be trying to keep the merchant class happy because that would be the largest/most powerful segment of the population.

It would be nice if the larger cities were represented separately from provinces, but we have seen no evidence that it is so.:)

I've not been reading much in the forum latley and so this may have been discussed already.

You mention Guilds!! Would this mean that cities that grow powerful and flourish on trade could force the player as an overlord to have to give consideration to these guilds?

An influential trading guild could become as menacing as a troublesome Bishop or Cardinal!! Hmmmmmmmmmnn.

Does trade play any major part in this game?

Since Venice, Genoa and the Hanseatic League are not playable you could guess that trade is not the major focus of the game. I would suspect that trade is probably less detailed than in EU II. :)

Well, it all depends on how you define 'Trade'.

If it's actually trading goods like in Patrician, it's not in.
If it's has to do with the (political) influence of the Guilds it should be in IMHO.
