Describe your issue
Update button in content management is missing

What is your game version?
1.16.1-f2

What expansions do you have installed?
After Dark, Snowfall, Natural Disasters, Mass Transit, Green Cities, Parklife, Industries, Campus, Sunset Harbor, Airports

What mods are you using?
Node Controller, Intersection Marking Tool, Hide it!, Stops&Stations, Remove Need for Pipes, Ultimade Mod, Move it!, Ploppable Rico, FPS Booster, Extra Landscaping Tools, Network Skins, Network Anarchy, Loading Screen Mod Rev.,

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I created a street in the asset editor and uploaded it to the workshop. I subscribed to my street in the workshop. My street is displayed in the content manager, but the "update button" is missing.

I made a mistake while creating the road and wanted to upload the corrected version. It worked before the update too.

I have already disabled all mods. But the button is not displayed. The button is also missing on my older networks.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
The problem also occurs with my older roads, which I created months ago. Again, no update button is displayed in the content manager, although I have subscribed to my created roads in the workshop.

Add:

--refreshWorkshop

To the launch command.
For the time being, this should do the trick. Please make sure to remove the launch option once you have finished updating your items. :)

How? Please describe how to "add --refreshWorkshop" to the "launch command". It would be very helpful for those of us who have no idea what that means or how to do so. I have used LOM2 mod and clicked "Refresh Workshop" under Profile, and tried 3 times, but it doesn't work. My WS asset still has no "Update" button. This problem has been ongoing for several weeks...

I was having the same issue until I disabled ULOD (Ultimate Level of Detail) Mod. but, to answer your question:
right click on your Cities Skylines icon on your desktop, and select properties. In the box labeled "Target" place your curser at the end and type: -refreshWorkshop

Actually, all you need to do is In your Steam Library right-click on this game and choose Properties. In the Launch Options line, paste this in there:
--refreshWorkshop

--refreshWorkshop
Tried this. It did not work. The Update button is still missing...

I am trying to update a couple District Styles.

I tried with one of my recently uploaded Assets and the Update button was missing. I can still Share any asset, I just cannot Update assets I have shared and subscribed to. From the Asset Manager I clicked the Steam Workshop icon next to one of my assets and unsubscribed and resubscribed from the Steam Overlay. Went back to the game and the Update button was there on the Asset. Switched to Styles and the Update button was not there. Exited and relaunched game (using --refreshWorkshop) and went directly to Styles, tried to unsub and resub and still no Update button.

Another possible clue as to what is going on is that my Style says "last updated 18 hours ago" which is right around the first time I re-subscribed to it after a long time. The Style has been on the WS for about 3 years. It has not been updated for about 2.5 years, so my game should definitely not indicate to me, in Asset Manager, that this Style was "last updated 18 hours ago".

I have tried Load Order Mod 2, Harmony, and Patch Loader Mod and the District Style only, created a New Profile for this and reloaded the game and it still does not show the Update button under this Style.

When I subscribe to any of my assets the Update button is missing but if I subscribe to another asset it *might* appear on my assets, unless I subscribe to something else, in which case the Update button disappears from all of my assets, again.

This is only with Assets - the Style remains without an Update button no matter what I have tried for the last four days. I can Share a Style or an Asset - the Share button has never disappeared. I cannot update a Style and can only update an Asset if the update button *decides* to appear.

WTF is going on?

Are you subscribing/unsubscribing while the game is open? The launch option --refreshWorkshop works on launch, so you will likely need to restart after making any changes. And make sure the launch option is exactly like that with both dashes and capital W. Launch options are case sensitive so must be exact to work, otherwise they do nothing.

Yes, I know how to use the profiles, I set the profile, close the game, relaunch the game, and it still does not work. This is not isolated to me — a random person in the cities, skylines discord tried to make a fresh district style yesterday, published it, subscribed to it, added another asset to it, and then went to update it, and his button was missing as well. This seems to be a universal problem, mostly affecting district styles, but also affecting assets to some extent sometimes the update button is there for an asset, sometimes it is not. The button for updating a district style is always missing. Please, move beyond the basic troubleshooting steps and look into this deeper.

We're currently investigating the issue but I'm afraid I don't have an update for you at this time.

Hello there and hello Avanya, I have been experiencing the same problem for several weeks now, I can publish assets on the workshop, then the update button appears but as soon as I restart the game the update button vanishes.
I tried the syntax --refreshWorkshop and --disableMods without success either.
I'm waiting for the problem to be solved before I can publish a stadium which requires dependencies to be updated on my side.

Here is the solution I found after a technical discussion.
Add the syntax --refreshWorkshop and delete the file userGameState.cgs in the game folder.
I hope it will work for you too.

For those of us who have no clue: Where, exactly, is the userGameState.cgs file? It is in C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines

However, this suggestion did not work. I moved the userGameState.cgs file out of the CS folders completely and used --refreshWorkshop launch command and still no Update button on the Style that I published and subscribed to.

Do you have the local copy of the style still in your ...\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Styles folder? If so, please try moving it out of that folder temporarily.
