Cities: Skylines vanishes on clicking PLAY or RESUME

This is on Win 10. Steam was updated.
64GB. i5-11600K.
No Malicious Software Detected.

Could you further explain what exactly happens? What do you mean by "vanish"?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled it and it does the same thing.
The Paradox interactive windows for C:S comes up with the green RESUME and PLAY buttons.
Clicking PLAY shows the hourglass cursor for a few seconds.
The C:S screen then disappears and 2 seconds later the hour glass.
The App is gone from the task bar.

Watching the taskbar, the Paradox icon is there.
Then the C:S icon appears.
Then the Paradox icon disappears.
Then the C:S icon disappears.

Hello all,

I've had the exact same issue.

The process is something like this:

Open Steam > Click Play > Cities Skylines launcher open from you can either select Resume or Play

If I select Resume, the launcher windows closes and that's it, if I select Play, the game it appears to start loading with the Paradox screen and then after a few seconds it closes the game and I have Steam back on screen.

Update:

After checking the mods list ([Cities Skylines] Broken & Incompatible Mods - Patch 1.16.1-f2) where I've found two Broken mods, disabled them, I've been able to load the game, but I get a blue map (nothing shown) with the UI panels working, but not playable due to the map not being shown.

I've went again through the mods, but can't seem to find any other that is broken or none in the "Not broken, has some issues" tab that would describe anything similar to my issue.

Any ideas?
