I made a post in the main forum, but was helpfully guided to starting a thread in this section. I love this game. In large part because of the Era in which it takes place. I'm a huge fan of classical history, and am actually following in my grandfather's footsteps studying the classics, and classical history. That being said, my grandfather recently passed away, and I would love to be able to found a city and name it after him "Stephenopolis". Make a city of Roman or Greek scholars, just as a small nod to him during playthroughs. Unfortunately there's no current way of doing this, that I know of (In Ironman). I know Arheo has said that he views the game as a civilization builder, and I'd really love to have that as a feature of the civilizations that I build.
I know Arheo has been against the idea of changing territory names, because of historic immersion. I find this unfortunate, and limiting, especially as someone who cares deeply for maintaining immersion. I do, however, believe that my founding a new city and naming it is no less historically immersion breaking than having a Peloponnesian League that spans from Denmark to Egypt, and the Rhine to the mouth of the Danube. But that's the type of fiction that I love to create in this game.
"Will Steel" has also suggested the ability to rename cohorts and individual ships (I do not know if this has been previously discussed, but think it a good idea).
