I've used this converter twice on CK-exported to-EU2 games (that is to say two different exported games). Neither time were they successfully convertered to Vic format. I was wondering if it is possible to converter a CK to EU2 game? If this has already been addressed then sorry for rehashing.

I think there may be a problem with extra tags added for the CK to EU2 conversion.

What you need to do for the moment is look through the EU2 save and manually change the tags of any countries which aren't normally available in EU2 to something similar which is. Then the converter should work.

I would hope that in the future the programmers will add the CK tags to the converter so that you don't have to manage it manually.

To sort out any confusion:
For CK to EU2 game: Choose 'Export' in menu inside CK.
For EU2 to Vic: Run the EU2Vic tool on an EU2 .EUG save file.

What kind of errors did you get when you tried to convert the EU2 game? You can probably ask MontyP to take a look at those save games that did not convert.

Ah right, we did setup the whole thing for a vanilla game. Nevertheless I imagine many CK EU2 tags could be assimilated into some of the regular 'mother' nations.

Or you can ty to concuer all the countries before coverting to vic. :p
Im rather suprised the tags werent automaticaly made for the converter. If i remember corrctly it was possible to convert games from ck to euii long before there was even talk of converting to vic(could be wrong though)
The alternative would be to create events that would change the countries near the end of euII

Well the converter still has a lot of holes even in its conversion of regular EU2 games. I think the designers wanted to get these filled in before branching out.

Thanks for the quick response! I had figured that it might have been due to the extra country tabs. I was playing Byzantium in CK 1337 scenario so lots of little duchies and extra countries were still around when I exported to EU2. I immediatly wanted to see what a vic game would look like with those initial parameters and I used the EU2VIC converter which promptly gave me an "There were errors in this conversion" or some such (no details beyond that).

All tags that are available in EU2 are either converted or merged. That should definately not give any problems.

Anyways converting directly from CK to VIc (with the stopover to EU2) will not really work, mainly as the whole world will be uncivilized.

This simply is not true, nothing of it. All EU2 tags AFAIK, except CUM and KON are included in version 1.01. If anyone wants to change how countries convert, they don’t need to reprogram the converter. They only have to use notepad and edit the “Countries.txt” file to make that change.

The problem Master Shake has is depending on a small bug.:( I’m guessing that he is converting a CK exported savegame file directly with the converter? If the file has not been saved in EU2 prior to conversion it will not work in version 1.01 due to the bug. Master Shake, to remedy the problem open the CK exported savegame file in EU2 and save it there. Then you can convert it! Hope that works for you.:)

Hi guys... I'm back....

My experience:

I've started a game in 1066 with Sweden in CK. I'm currently in 1629 in EU2 and planning to continue till 1920.

I've anticipated myself and wanted to look how the game would look like in Victoria and the converter showed no problem whatsoever and Victoria loaded it up perfectly well.

Maybe you skipped EU2 and converted directly from CK onto Vic?

I don't think that I saved it in EU2. I loaded it up and looked at it but didn't save it (both times). I'll give that a try. Thanks a bunch and great job on this converter.
