is withering on the vine again without our weekly update from Sergei.

Anyone have anything that needs discussion while we eagerly await our weekly stoking from Moscow? I know HOI 1.03 is grabbing a lot of attention but surely there are some here who are not addicted to HOI and want to further discuss their opinions/guesses about CK. Unfortunately I can't come up with anything new.:(

So Sergei, come on, give us something to chew on for a while (no sushi).:)

I support this motion!:)

Or I can start something on Flanders again...:p ;)

Murmurandus: Nooooooooo!!! Please! Spare us!:D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suggestion, new topic: Will there be any aliens in CK? Any hint?
Suggestion, new topic, version 2: If resources is in CK(and I guess it will), will we see sushi as a new resource? Guess the Mongols would have imported it, if they happened to conquer Japan!:D

Apart from that? No clue!;)

Hmmm, this question of resources is interesting. With a lot less attention paid to economy (or at least direct control of the economy) is there really a reason for resources to be in the game? Is the English-Low Countries (I would have said Flanders, but that has been overdone :D ) wool connection or the Spanish leather and steel trade or the German and Italian armor manufacture going to even be a part of the game? Other than keeping the merchant class happy and collecting taxes from them (which makes them unhappy) will there be any real economy in the game?:)

Well there will need to be some kind of economy...i think having resources still would be good, but we don't need factories. Resources was one of many reasons for inter-european wars. IMO they should be more varried, but overall less important.

I get the feeling we are being left out here....:(

Use the translation tool at altavista, its crap but you understand most of it

If there ever was a period in time where the economy could largely be ignored (at least as concerned the reigning monarch) this is probably it. I'd think CK could get away with a pretty simple economic system (simpler even that EUs), if it can give the proper attention to the dynastic concerns...

I'd argue that if there was a time where trade was more important for a normal inhabitant it would be during the CK time. If the harvest failed and you didn't import food you starved to death.

I agree with Aetius about the trade, at least for certain areas of Europe. Even in Medieval times, coastal regions with little farmland relied heavily upon trade to supply them with grain in exchange for whatever commodity that was available to them, be it fish, fur or wool.

However, the economy as a whole was hardly as complex as the one we know today.

I don't want it to be excluded from the game. That would be ahistorical, as a good tax base and economy is fundamental to a dynasty's rise to fame.

i agree with you, in these period, if you don't produce enough food, and you don't have a good trade route to get some food, you starve to death....
will that be in the game?

Could someone translate sergei links ?

To go back to my original post -

Thank you Sergei for the update.

Even though most of the recent posts have nothing to do with what Sergei posted today, just the fact that he posts awakens the forum members and gets them discussing things once more. It is amazing how Sergei sparks us into action.:)
