Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
My character has the Hunting Focus, and gained the Drunkard Trait from a rivalry event. I was still able to go on Grand Hunts, however. Then a year ago, my character got Ill, but recovered quickly, Afterwards, I found that I couldn't go on Grand Hunts anymore, as I had Drunkard, which didn't count as a Health event until my character got sick.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Step 1: Pick the Hunting Focus.
Step 2: Wait to get Drunkard.
Step 3: Attempt to go on a Grand Hunt.
Step 4: If it succeeds, wait until you get Ill, then recover.
Step 5: Wait until you can go on a Grand Hunt, and try again.

Seems to be working just fine. You need less than one health trait, but you have drunkard, so your character doesn't have less than one health trait.

No, it doesn't count as a Health trait in-game until after you acquire another one.
