Dear Support!

I came to the realization that the English units do not have a shield, although i'm pretty sure they should have one, judging by the fact that they are trying to hold it but were given no sadly for them.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Play as an english cultured character.

Give them a shield please!

How do you even play as an english cultured character in october 1066 ? The event requires it to be 1100.
Besides what i see is Harold who should be anglo-saxon.

Tested it :
It appears to be the default anglo-saxon unit without the Saxon Unit pack DLC.

Ok i see your point, i tested it and in later start dates the same models (but english cultured units) have shields, but is it surely intended to be that way? I mean the anglo-saxon units are using the same models and they clearly trying to hold their shields. Also i think i do have the English Unit pack dlc, according to wiki it was part of the Monks and Mystics expansion.

Nah, it won't be intended for anglo saxons to be shieldless without the appropriate Saxon Unit DLC.
It is a bug, but for anglo-saxons, not the english. MaM expansion or not doesn't matter here.

It's a bug, a fix that worked for me is to:
go into Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\common\cultures open 00_cultures and for cultures that have englishgfx and saxongfx for their unit_graphical_cultures, remove saxongfx so only englishgfx is left.

example for saxon
saxon = {
graphical_cultures = { englishgfx saxongfx }
unit_graphical_cultures = { saxongfx englishgfx }
it should be
saxon = {
graphical_cultures = { englishgfx saxongfx }
unit_graphical_cultures = { englishgfx }

You have to do the same thing for mods using anglo saxon units
