One line summary of your issue
Kraka, the immortal clone Captain of the Varangian Guard

Game Version
CK II - 3.3.5.1 (SOHY)

What expansions do you have installed?

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Noticed this weird pattern of "immortal clones" as I like to call them, exhibiting the bug only for the Varangian Guard so far. I have vassalized all the Catholic Holy Orders on top of the initial Scholae Palatinae, and none of their many Captains and Lord Commanders ever became clones like "dear" Kraka.

I even tried the classic "solution" in CK 2 for pesky characters. Assassinating her had no effect, another clone was ready to replace one nearly identical (minus hair style) Kraka with another.

No mods are being used or installed as I simply play the retail version, vanilla of the game plus having every single DLC pack purchased and activated. So no subscription or other temporary elements plaguing my playthrough.

Playing in Ironman Mode since I want to obtain the game's Steam Achievements and the campaign screenshotted started in 769 AD by playing as the Byzantines before reforming the Roman Empire. I don't think it matters that I had converted to Catholicism along the way, especially since the Varangian Guard remained pagan.

Not that I am confident this issue will ever get resolved (the reformed Hellenistic names with no spaces bug is still not fixed years since it was mentioned here), but I wanted to bring it to the attention of whomever may be interested in lingering bugs and glitches in Crusader Kings II.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Form the Varangian Guard and wait until a "clone captain" emerges. Always having the same base stats and traits upon succession.

This is a side effect of how Paradox implemented non-agnatic succession for titles with Open Elective succession. They couldn't be bothered to make that succession work with non-agnatic succession, so depending on religion features of Norse paganism and laws of the liege of the Varangian Guard, a female character may be generated and manually granted the title, which is why she didn't get elected. There's apparently some non-randomness, since the event responsible doesn't specify a name.

So is there a solution or suggestion I can try in that playthrough?
It kinda breaks immersion to have only Krakas as heads of the personal bodyguards to my Emperors and Empresses.

If it's an Ironman game, nothing you can do. There might be a better way to do what Paradox intended. If so, I'll add it to CleanSlate soon. May have a look tomorrow. Wouldn't mind turning it into a mini-mod if you're interested.
