One line summary of your issue
[3.3.0 XDSW] Mongols don't show up (historic settings)

Game Version
3.3.0 XDSW

What expansions do you have installed?
All of the above

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
It is 1222 and Mongols didn't show up. Obviously I am disappointed because I was waiting for the clash as the Arabian Empire.
So I went to the event 60500 to check what could be the reason.

religion = catholic
[...]
controls_religion = yes # Let it happen for the Pope. He's always around.

Well, it turns out that in my game the dominant Christian religion is Fraticelli, not Catholic. Is this the matter preventing the Mongols from appearing?

The way that the Mongols work was changed when they expanded the map to include Mongolia. Now Temuljin shows up as a character in the map, like Seljuk, Timur, and the other Turk who does the Ghazavanid Sultanate. He can die before accomplishing anything, thus preventing the alerts/events from showing up.

Nah, that script means that holder of k_papal_state, which is "controls_religion = catholic" in landed_titles.txt, can be ROOT of this event.
This event does not fire simply because it's fired from on_decade_pulse, and it's occasionally jammed.

You can try mod event 60500 as old style, pre 2.1 style Mongol Invasion, using MTTH instead of triggering from on_action.
That ensures mongol invasion happened in every game.

Interesting, thanks for the answer. What can I do regarding the jammed decade pulse? Should I keep another save every time the game hits 1200?
