Backstory: I created descendents of the Blackfyres through Daemon who survived the Rebellions and controlled some of the the Stepstones, not all. By the time of ASoIaF there were about 7 Blackfyres. Then started as Daenerys Targaryen as Khalessi of the Great Grass Sea.
Some Details may be exaggerated or altered to fit storyline purposes.
History I - The Seven Kingdoms
Titles: Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons
Reign: 302 AC - 322 AC
Events: In 299 AC, Daenerys hatched three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. This act would reintroduce the species to the world, and be the event that later on, Septons and Red Priests alike would call the sign that the Gods had christened her the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
The young Targaryen would undertake a journey from depths of the Dorthraki Grasslands, confronting the Warlocks of Qarth at the House of the Undying and soundly defeating them, suffering betrayal along the way. She would then sail to Astapor, gaining an army of 10,000 Unsullied and sacking the city. She would strike the chains off slaves, earning her the title "Breaker of Chains". She would do a similar thing at Yunkai, before Conquering Meereen and ruling as its Queen for sometime.
From here she would sail to Westeros, Unsullied and an army of 20,000 Sellswords at her back. She found the Seven Kingdoms, or rather 4 Kingdoms, ruled by Stannis Baratheon and weakened by the War of the Five Kings. Robb Stark ruled over 2 Kingdoms, the North, the Riverlands as 'High King of the North' and the Iron Islands remained free. Daenerys landed at Dragonstone, quickly taking the Castle from the token garrison that remained. She then marched her host to Masseys Hook, taking a number of small, little defended counties before confronting a combined Reachman - Baratheon army at the Battle of the Kingswood. The enemy host outnumbered hers by 2000 but she had dragons. She burned the enemy army with her dragons and took Stannis Baratheon captive. He laid his crown before her and swore himself to her mercy.
She allowed him to live, naming the Eldest of his 3 daughters, Shireen as Lady Paramount of the Stormlands. Daenerys took her rightful place as Queen on the Iron Throne, However the North still remained free from her Control. Before she could march into another War however she needed to secure her line. She married Valerion Velayron matrilineally, but if you listened to the hearsay and rumors of the court, you would believe her children Rhaegar, Shaena and Rhaenyra were not Valerions son and daughters, but rather those of the disgraced bastard of the North Jon Snow whom many believed she had a not-so-secret relationship with following his appointment as the royal master-at-arms and who sired two bastards from her, Aemon 'Snowfyre' and Rhaeny's. Furthermore she allowed the Lords Paramount of each region to remain in there seats, and named Jaime Lannister, who had been left burned by a glancing flame from Drogon, as Lord Paramount of the Westerlands.
In 316 AC, Daenerys secured the fealty of a few Islands between Westeros and Essos called the Stepstones. A number of the Islands had become a lordship under the descendents of the Blackfyres of old. Ruled by the Lord Daeron Blackfyre, grandson of Daemon II. Daenerys married her bastard daughter, Rhaenys to their heir, Taegon Blackfyre. In return Daeron placed down his crown. Daenerys then set about conquering the rest of the stepstones, naming the Blackfyres Lord's Paramount of the Stepstone. In return Daeron pledged the eternal loyalty of House Blackfyre to House Targaryen and said "Let this wedding be noted as the point in history where Blackfyre and Targaryen became brothers again, instead of rivals". The wedding of Rhaenys and Taegon would become known as the Dragon Wedding. She then appointed Daeron to her small council as the Master of Ships.
In 319 AC, Daenerys set about bringing the remaining kingdoms under her control. She would start with the Iron Islands. Using the political pretext of an Ironborn fleet sailing up into the middle of the Reach to reave, raised her banners, and every High Lord under her joined her. Before long, she, atop Drogon, her son Rhaegar on his mount Baelix, born from Drogon, and Jon Snow on Rhaegal burned Pyke. Balon Greyjoy would die in the fires of Daenerys' onslaught, and his son Theon would surrender his crown to her, in return being named Lord Paramount of the Iron Islands.
In 321 AC, Daenerys reformed the realm, centralising power so the High Lords could no longer squabble and limiting the powers of the faith, once again disbanding the faith militant. She named Jorah Mormont Lord of the Kingswood, and gave took the titles of Rosby, Blackwater Rush, Duskendale, Cracklaw Point and Massey's Hook, giving the latter two to her daughters Shaena and Rhaenyra respectively. Both would prove to be longlived, lasting till the reign of Daeron the III, some 60 years later. A number of Dragons were born under her rule as well. However she would die in 322 AC due to stress, the North and Riverlands still independent under the rule of Robb Stark.
Titles: Rhaegar of the House Targaryen, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Protector of the Realm, The Great
Reign: 322 AC - 337 AC
Events: Rhaegar came into power unexpectedly, not even having received Lord of Dragonstone as the heir apparent should. He made it clear that his first goal was to finish his mothers work, and reunite the Seven Kingdoms, or Eight as it was with the inclusion of the stepstones under the Blackfyres.
Only days after his coronation in the Sept of Baelor, King Rhaegar decreed a crusade, sending a raven to Robb Stark bearing the message "I am King Rhaegar Targaryen, of the blood of Old Valyria. Bend the knee or suffer the fate of all traitors.". No reply was sent, nor no envoy. Rhaegar, had expected this and had already called his banners, Lannister and Arryn armies already where marching on the Riverlands, and the Targaryen Host, led by Rhaegar himself with a total 5 dragon riders assembled on the plains outside Kingslanding. Such a force had no been sent North since Aegon the Conqueror meet King Torrhen Stark on the banks of the the Trident. Only time would tell if Rhaegar need go that far.
Jaime Lannister met Robb Starks host at Harrenhall, eager-ally wanting a rematch following Jaimes defeat at the Battle of the Whispering wood. This time Jaime would meet Robb on the battlefield, slaying the would be king and sending the Northern host back to Moat Caitlin with their tails between their legs. His son, Garth Stark would assume his fathers crown and regroup his forces at Winterfell. Arryn, Lannister and Baratheon armies laid siege to various holds in the Riverlands, and in true Frey tradition, the Lords of the Crossing switched sides, declaring their allegiance to the one true King, Rhaegar Targaryen.
As their the Riverlands was laid to waste, the last Tully, Edmure was killed at the second battle of the Trident, leaving only his bastard daughter, Saenra to bear the name. Rhaegar took pity on her, legitimising her and taking her as his ward. Rhaegar would march Northward, brushing past Moat Caitlin with ease as the 37,000 strong Targaryen host and the 5 Dragons that flew above them came into view scared even the staunchest and most fearless of Northern guardsmen. At the battle of Castle Cerwyn, Garth Stark met Rhaegars in the field. Rhaegar would win the day, as he had 5 dragons and a mighty host. Garth would die, bathed in dragonfire, and his son, Brandon Stark would prostrate himself Rhaegar, laying the Winter Crown at his feet and swearing House Starks fealty. Rhaegar would name Aemon Snowfyre, Lord Paramount of the Riverlands.
Several years passed, a peace settled over the realm and Rhaegar had a number of sons and daughters, most notably, was his bastard, Aegon Goldfyre, born from a night spent with a Lannister woman and his heir, Aegon Targaryen, who was named Lord Aegon VII of Dragonstone. Under Rhaegar both Oldstones and Summerhall where rebuilt and the realm prospered.
This peace was broken however when a Blackfyre cousin, Lord Balareon Blackfyre who had married the now dead Taegon Blackfyre's bride, Rhaenys Targaryen who rode the dragon Viserion, staked his claim on the Throne, launching the Fifth Blackfyre rebellion. He would strike the first major blow to House Targaryen since Daenerys reconquest.
He landed a Cracklaw Point and King Rhaegar, atop Rhaegal led his own host from Kingslanding to meet them. Rhaegal and Viserion would meet above the clashing armies, in a long drawn out struggle. Utlimately Rhaegal would prove the winner and crash into his brother and his borther's rider, killing both. Viserion would be the first dragon to die since the Targaryen dragons of old. The Blackfyres of the stepstones had disapproved of the Rebellion, still finding loyalty with House Targaryen and opposing the stray cousin. The would-be King Balareon would be hung, drawn and quartered at Kings Landing.
Several more years would pass before Rhaegar would die peacefully.
History II - The Eight Kingdoms
Titles: Aegon of the House Targaryen, the Sixth of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Protector of the Realm, The Dragon
Reign: 337 AC - 351 AC
Events: The first 5 years of Aegon's reign uneventful, the realm was peaceful. He named his brother Aenar Targaryen, Lord of Duskendale and several more dragon's were hatched during his reign. This peace would not last however.
In recent years, the Blackfyres had proliferated, being described by the Hand of the King, Lord Karlon Mormont as "Black Rabbits". This had also meant the list of people with a claim to the throne had only grown has both House Targaryen, Blackfyre and now the new cadet houses of Snowfyre and Goldfyre grew too. The realms peace would be shattered when yet another Blackfyre cousins would attempt to stake their claim but the rebellion was put down quickly at the battle of Summerhall by Lord Paramount Durwald Baratheon.
The real threat to the realms peace would emerge in 43 AC when Lady Paramount Daenerys Snowfyre 'the Monstrous', known for her rash temper and tendency told placate her lords with a sword to their neck as opposed to diplomacy, somehow obtained fake documents that she believed indicated King Aegon's intention to revoke her titles and lands from her. For this 'treachery' she raised her banners in an attempt to overthrow her king. What was unforeseen was that firstly, the Reach, Dorne and Iron Islands would stay out of the Conflict. Secondly both the Westerlands and the North would join Daenerys in her attempt to overthrow Aegon. Aegon raised his banners and marched toward the Riverlands. Meeting the Riverlands host on the banks of the God's Eye, Aegon soundly defeated Daenerys, sending her in retreat to the Trident. However before Aegon could finish her and her army off, a combined Stark - Lannister host, led by Lord Paramount Brandon Stark intercepted Aegons force. It was here, a Brandon Stark slew King Aegon's mount and the biggest of the Targaryen Dragons, Drogon. This single action cost Aegon the battle and gave the enemy a resolve that allowed them to lay siege to Kings Landing Itself, and almost win the War, had Blackfyre forces not joined Aegon's remaining forces, now led by his great aunt Shaena Targaryen. Aegon would push North scorching many Northern lands for their insolence and for taking Drogon's life. When Brandon Stark was finally captured and Daenerys bent the knee, she was exiled from Westeros and he was burned and eaten alive by the young dragon, Jaharix.
In Essos, Volantis had united the Free Cities, save for Braavos. Triarch Manaerys Volanquares had formed a New Valyrian Empire. In an effort to keep Westeros more powerful against this rising threat, King Aegon declared War on the Free City of Braavos, quickly invading and subduing it. He would name his bastard brother, and head of the cadet house, Aegon Goldfyre, Lord Paramount of Braavos.
Only days after this act, would King Aegon be killed by a Volantene Rattlesnake found in his bed.
History III - The Nine Kingdoms
Titles: Daegar of the House Targaryen, the First of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos and Protector of the Realm, the Effeminate
Reign: 351 AC - 368 AC
Events: In the first year of his reign, the Wall came under threat. The Wildlings had somehow managed to unite under a Thenn leader named Ragnar. Ragnar 'the Greenseer' had amassed an army of 60,000 wildlings and was laying siege to Eastwatch by the sea, a castle that had fell in to great disrepair. The Nightswatch didn't have the manpower to more than stall this attack and it was only a matter of time before the Wall would fall. Daegar raised his army from the Crownlands and marched North, riding Rhaegal, the last of Daenerys three original dragons. The Wildlings had orginially smashed a Nightswatch expedition at the battle of the Fist of the First Men, and chased them back to the Wall. Once Daegar arrived they were easily routed. They had never seen or heard of dragons or the like before. Yet alone had one spewing white hot flames at them.
Daegar returned home by the end of 352 AC victorious. On his journey back he came across the field of fire, where his ancestor Aegon had routed the Lannister - Gardener host with his three dragons. The Lannister however had still not learned their lesson after centuries of bowing before the Crown and failed, crushed uprisings. In 358 AC, Lord Paramount Tywell 'the Short' Lannister attempted to leave the Realm, by force. He raised his banners and marched for Kings Landing, Daegar would fly out to meet him. At the battle of Payne Hall, where Tywell had routed a Tyrell host, Daegar and his brother, Lucerys flew out on their dragons, Rhaegal and Baelix and burned Tywell's host into ash. There were no survivors save Tywell and his son. His marshal, Ser Chiswyck Jast, rode straight for Daegar with a lance, in a foolish attempt to slay the dragon, only to ride straight into the mouth of Rhaegal. By some miracle Jast survived, being severely burned and scarred for life in the process. For his brave actions, Lucerys was named Lord of Blackwater Rush and given the lands bordering Harrenhall and the God's eye.
Tywell would be beheaded at Kings Landing, ending the rebellion, but this would not be the largest or most major rebellion of Daegars rule. in 360 AC, Daegars cousin, Shaera Targaryen fled to Pentos, a city in the New Valyrian Empire, with her dragon Tessax. In 362 AC she returned, several companies of sellswords as well as exiles and mutineers at her back. She landed at Duskendale, where Daegar marched to meet her. She posed a more serious threat however as she rode a dragon, a young one by any rate, almost 60 years younger than Rhaegal, but none the less a dragon. The two clashed, swirling and swooshing in a ball of fire that lit the night sky. Tessax would fall to the ocean. For several hours it was assumed Shaera had died aswell, her forces surrendered or routed, fleeing back across the narrow sea. However she was found crippled, missing a leg on the banks of narrow sea. She was stoned to death there and then by local peasants under Daegars order. He would have no traitorous cousins.
Daegar however would suffer a painful fate himself, falling off his dragon mid ride, he was found alive, but horribly disfigured. Whisperers in the back rooms of court were rumoured to say he would have been better looking had he been afflicted with greyscale. The extent of injuries was so severe that he took to wearing a mask for the rest of his days, no one, not even his Kingsguard nor manservants laid eyes upon his face after the day he first put on his mask, and no one would ever again, not even after his death in 368 AC, when finally depression took him.
Titles: Daeron of the House Targaryen, the Third of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos and Protector of the Realm, the Amazing
Reign: 368 AC - 386 AC
Events: The first few years of Daeron's reign were relatively peaceful. Daeron first test came in 372 AC, in the form of the seventh Blackfyre rebellion. Daemon Blackfyre had made contact with the remainders of the Golden Company, and led an army their army across the Narrow Sea. Nothing of note occurred during the Rebellion, which was put down quickly by Daeron. Daemon was killed during the fighting at Cracklaw Point, ending thee rebellion.
During the rebellion, Daeron's bastard cousin, Aegon Waters, gifted him a small puppy. Daeron named the puppy Damocles who run by Daerons side whenever he could. The puppy would sleep with Daeron's son's dragon, Vaegon when it was hatched in Aemon's cradle. Aemon early on was seen as an intelligent and kind young man, and the realm knew a good, powerful king would rule after Daeron. However, Daeron's rule was not over yet.
Daeron faced a second rebellion from the Iron Islands in 380 AC. For around 10 years now, the Greyjoys had been overthrown, the last male fleeing to Kings Landing in hopes of repopulating his house before his return. The Greyjoys had ruled the Islands for the last 300 years and Iron Islands fell into a state on near constant civil war. The crown had not been concerned by this as, as a former Greyjoy put it "There are nothing but rocks and bird sh*t there". However when Lord Qhorin Volmark declared war on the Iron Throne to attempt to secure the Islands Independence, the Dragon started paying attention to the drowning Islands. Lannister forces arrived on the Islands first, The Targaryen Fleet along with 3 Dragons was not far behind and only a few days sail from Pyke when a raven arrived from Kings Landing for Daeron.
The Iron Islands were spared from Dragonfire and Lord Lonnel Lannister was put in charge of subjugating the Islands. Another Blackfyre pretender had noticed that Daeron was a good months travel from Kings Landing, the old Daeron Blackfyre sought to take his namesakes Throne. Daeron Blackfyre landed at Rosby, marching a force of 10,000 men. Another pitiful rebellion. Daeron Targaryens force numbered 3 times that, and had 3 Dragons, but it was the other side of Westeros. By the time Daeron Targaryen arrived, the Blackfyre was besieging the Red Keep. The shadows of three dragons engulfed their camps and Baelix, Rhaegon and Jaharix drove down toward the Blackfyre forces, engulfing them in dragonflame. They never stood a chance. The Hand of the King, Lord Jorah III Mormont joked, "Blackfyre rebellions are becoming the proving tests of Kings now".
By the time the Blackfyre rebellion had been put down, so too had the Iron Islands. Euron II Greyjoy was made Lord Paramount of the Iron Islands, which returned to a semblance of normalcy. Euron would die reaving in Ghiscar however, leaving his young son Theon II as Lord Paramount.
The last acts Daeron took, was to name his first son, and heir, Aemon Lord of Dragonstone. He also named his second son, Daegar, Lord of Rosby, making every High Lordship in the Crownlands, save the Kingswood, which the Mormonts kept, owned by a Targaryen.
Daeron would also sea a further oddity. A small exploratory fleet came from the Sunset sea, strange dark skinned individuals speaking a language never heard of and wearing clothes never seen arrived in the Iron Islands. They made attempts to buy land in the local area, and when refused, threatened war upon the locals. The Maesters thought it best not to send an expedition after them, for fear of an armada coming over the Sunset.
Titles: Aemon of the House Targaryen, the First of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos and Protector of the Realm, the Wise
Reign: 386 AC - 433 AC
Events: Aemon's ascension to the Iron Throne was a complex matter that, to be fully understood must be looked at before his ascension as King. In his first year as Lord of Dragonstone, only months after his seventeenth nameday, A red priest arrived from Volantis at Aemon's court. The red priest turned Aemon and his wife to the religion of the red god, R'hllor. This led to many fearing Aemon's turn to be king.
A year later, when his father, Daeron III died falling off a balcony, in an event considered widely to be an accident, the Realm realised what would come next. Aemon wasted no time in dispatching Red Priests to convert the Nine Kingdoms. The Stepstones already bent to the Red God, as well as areas of the Stormlands. Far off lords joked that the Red Keep had become a hive for Red Priests to made in, as they seemed to pour out each day like a strong river cutting into the land.
Aemons ascension was also marked by the death of another Targaryen, Aemons uncle, Lucerys Targaryen, Lord of Blackwater Rush who was stabbed to death in his sleep, and the assailant was killed before he could questioned.
Nine months after his ascension, Aemon was crowned in the throne room of the Red Keep by the new High Priest of the Nine Kingdoms, Valarr. He was the first king to invoke the Lord of Light. His realm was on the brink of civil war, with two major factions sprouting, the Crown Loyalists, who supported Aemon and the depositioners, who supported Aemons abdication in favour of his infant son Rhaegar who would be raised as zealot of the Seven if they had their way. The Loyalists were lead by Lord Paramount Gaemon Blackfyre, while the depositioners were led by the High Septon.
In 387 AC in an effort to quell the brewing civil war and out of fear that some of his own family, specifically dragon riders of his own family would join the other side leading to a second dance of dragons, Aemon held a grand tourney for all the realm, to distract from the issues, and build bridges. When the day came, the tourney went well until, just after unseating Ser Andrion, a messenger came running onto the field, as red as a glass of wine, bearing a raven scroll from the Iron Islands.
A armada of a thousand brightly feathered warships had appeared in sight of the coast of the eastern Iron Islands. By the time Aemon had reached his dragon, Vaegon, and raised his banners a second message from Lord Paramount Qhorin Greyjoy had arrived stating that Pyke had fallen, and most of the Iron Islands along with it. Further reports arrived of 'Sunlanders' arriving in the Riverlands, razing villages and sacrificing locals, Lords and peasants alike to demonic gods on hastily erected wooden pyramids. Armies from all over the realm marched toward the Riverlands, Lady Paramount Sallei Tully met King Aemon's host at Maidenpool, bowing before him and pledging the eternal loyalty of House Tully if he saved the Riverlands from these demonic invaders.
By the time Aemon's evergrowing host had reached the Trident, Seagard and the surronding counties as far North as the Crossing and as far south as Oldstones had been sieged by the Invaders. Furthermore only more bad news reached Aemon, a report from soldiers stranded behind enemy lines told that a further 100,000 Sunlanders had arrived to join the 70,000 already there. Aemons host was outnumbered 2 to 1 in totality, however the Sunlander forces were split into several hosts of about 35,000. Aemon planned to ambush and pick them all off. He called every dragonrider who could fly, a total of 11 dragons flying with a host of 81,000 Crownlanders, Rivermen and Westermen. A combined Arryn - Stark host marched from the Neck, led by Robert II Arryn.
Aemon met them for the first time at the battle of Oldstones, a 28,000 strong host of Sunlanders, worn down by a number of successive sieges, the Sunlanderss were easy pickings for Aemon's army. The small folk say that there were so many dragons at oldstones, the sky went dark in the middle of battle, clouded by dragons wings. However in the North, Robert Arryn's force was defeated, when two Sunlander hosts joined together and repulsed the Stark - Arryn host. Furthermore, another 119,000 Sunlanders had landed at the Banefort, south of where Aemons army was and near to the Westerlands.
Aemon engaged the Sunlanders again, west of Oldstones, again achieving Victory, however other Sunlander hosts and gone around the battle, retaking counties liberated from their control, and extra ones to make up the losses. It was becoming apparent that Aemon's forces were outnumbered, and reinforcements from Braavos, the Reach, Dorne and the Stepstones would not arrive in time. Aemon, took his host, now numbering only about 66,000 and split it in two, of 33,000 and 32,000. His gave the larger host's comand to his mother, Queen mother Gael Targaryen, and sent his cousins, Vaera and Rhaegal with her northwards, toward Flints Finger to cut off Sunlander forces marching northward. He then march his host of 32,000 southward, meeting the most southern Sunlander host at the battle of Blackrush.
The battle of Blackrush, near the castle of Halterfalls, is the point in the war when, the Maesters of the Citadel decided in retrospect, the war turned in Aemon's favour. The Sunlander host at Blackrush was led by Emperor Huitzilin Aeatl. The Emperor himself was spotted by Aemon, riding a black stallion in golden armour, which matched the armour the Emperor wore himself. Aemon drove Vaegon directly at him, Huitzilin spotted the dragon diving toward him, and threw his javelin at Vaegon in attempt to slay the Blue Beast. The last thing Huitzilin saw was a wall of fire consuming him. It is said, a statue of his ash was left behind, frozen for several seconds before being blown away by the wind. the Sunlander army routed not long after. However, two Sunlander hosts had taken the opportunity to march further south, past Blackrush.
While Aemon pursued them, a raven arrived with dire news from Kings Landing, an old wildfire store had caught fire following a brawl between several drunks. Several neighbourhoods near the street of steel now burned with wildfire. Hundreds would perish in the flames, and thousands more left disfigured or badly injured. One notable casualty of the fires was Viserys Targaryen, Aemons nephew.
Back in the Riverlands, news reached the Westerosi forces that back in the Sunlander homelands, a war, larger in scale than the one currently fought in Westeros was going badly for the Sunlanders. Their enemy had developed some form of weapon that with a loud noise could kills men from 100 meters away. Aemon's forces were slowly killing or routing the Sunlanders, while the Tyrell host which had recently arrived in the area set about taking back control of counties from Sunlanders. In the North, Queen Mother Gael Targaryen had also beaten back the sunlanders, and now marched south, taken back each castle one at a time.
It was not all victories however, at the second battle of the Whispering Wood, Vaegon was hurt, shot in the wing by some form of giant ballista the Sunlanders had developed. This render Vaegon, and essentially Aemon out of the war.
Within two more years, Aemon had taken back the majority of his territory, save for some counties East of Oldstones, and had completely driven off the Sunlanders, making them flee back home. However, before Aemon could settle peace terms with the Sunlanders, seeing the realms weakness and war weariness, Baethon Blackfyre launched the Ninth Blackfyre rebellion. Furthermore, Aemon's cousin, Aemond Targaryen, a renowned swordsman just like his namesake ancestor had flown on his dragon to Elyria, to marshal an army and return the realm to the Seven.
Firstly, Aemon sought to deal with the Blackfyre, marching his army back to the Crownlands, after a 7 year long campaign in the Riverlands. On the way he sent word to the Master of Whisperers to have Aemond kidnapped. When Aemon arrived in Duskendale, he found a host of roughly 9,000 Blackfyre men. They were no match for his 40,000 men who had been battle hardened in a long fought war in the Riverlands. Most of the Blackfyres were holding swords for the first time. He soundly defeated Baethon at the battle of Crown Keep, and killed his brother Daeron 'Weakflame' who attempted to slay Vaegon, only to find himself in the dragons mouth.
The Sunlanders, before signing peace with Aemon after a long 10 year slog, would be left a final present. Their peace envoy took back with them small pox, which if the reports were correct wiped out thousands of Sunlanders. However they left a present of their own, Syphilis, which would spread through the Kingdom like mad. The peeace would be signed the same day the Wildfires stopped in Kings Landing. The small folk saw this as a blessing from the God's, declaring Aemon to be King Aemon 'the Wise'. Aemond would be sent, along with is Dragon to the Wall, to help guard the Kingdoms of Men.
A fragile peace settled over the realm, while many saw Aemons choice of God as blasphemy, and silently prayed that he may be struck by a stray arrow some day, they could not openly oppose him, as he had led them well against the greatest threat the Realm had ever faced, and had resoundingly won. There was no doubt that for generations to come, Aemon's name would be remembered, even alongside Aegon's and yet his reign was still not done.
In the following years, Heleana Blackfyre, Master of Whispers of the Iron Throne tamed the white dragon Fyrax, becoming the first Blackfyre to do so. Furthermore, the Stepstones had been apart of the Nine Kingdoms for almost a century, and the generations that now populated the Islands could barely remember a time when they were not, and considered themselves a rightful part of the Nine Kingdoms. Additoinally, in 397 AC, Aegon Blackfyre was named to the Kingsguard, alongside Ser Wyl Arryn of Gulltown who was the greatest swordsman since Jaime Lannister. In 398 AC, Aemon's heir Rhaegar was pronounced Lord Rhaegar II of Dragonstone.
The following year however, was mired by the Tenth Blackfyre rebellion, led by Rhaegal 'the Exile'. Rhaegal's father had led his wife, his children and several of his cousins to Elyria many years ago, including Heleana Blackfyre. Rhaegal and some his cousins returned at the head of an army, some 9000 strong. Within hours of landing at Cracklaw Point, Rhaegal was met by Aemon and Vaegon, who burned the Exile King alive, ending his rebellion in a single swift move outside his command tent. Rhaegal's host was then slaughtered at the Battle of, or more like the Massacre of Cracklaw Point.
Before the century was done however, Rhaera Targayren also staked her claim. She never made it to the Battlefield, being murdered in her own tent.
In 400 AC, Lord Daegar Targaryen of Rosby assassinated Aemon's second infant son, Maegon. Aemon sent his guards to arrest Daegar, who instead turned them to ash atop his Dragon, and then called his banners in rebellion, igniting the Second Dance of Dragons.
Aemon immediately called his banners, marching his host to Rosby. Near Rosby, Aemon met the now pretender King Daegar. No one know's what was said between them, but one can only imagine the conversation the two cousins had, who had been brought up like brothers. They launched their dragons, Vaegon and Hyrax into the air, and crashed into each other in a ball of fire. Vaegon ended up gouging one of Hyrax's eyes out, causing the white and gold dragon to fall out of the sky and be slaughtered by Vaegon on the ground.
Meanwhile, several miles away at Rosby, Daegar's host, led by his wife Naerys atop Rhael, was met by Lord Jacaerys who rode Ossenaxes. Ossenaxes would slay Naerys in mid flight, burning her off her mount, who become so confused by their rider's death they flew headfirst into the Ocean, drowning in the Sea.
Despite the fact the War had essentially been Won, and a crippled Daegar was now in Aemon's custody, having been caught by his cousin crawling away from his dead Dragon's corpse, Daegar's niece, Rhalla Targaryen would be driven mad by the news of her Uncles defeat, and in her madness slew her husband, and Aemon's heir Rhaegar Targaryen.
As of the end of 400 AC, Rhaegar had no living male heirs, and one infant daughter born in 412 AC, Rhaenys. He named Rhaeny's his sole heir to clear to confusion regarding the succession, and named her Lady of Dragonstone.
In 401 AC, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Lorens Ambrose died, severally scarred and wounded from the successive wars. He was replaced by Aegon Blackfyre, who at the age of 23 become one of the youngest Lord Commanders in the King's Guard's history. The Realm would settle into an uneasy period of peace, prospering for the next 10 years till 411 AC.
In 411 AC, the Wildling's marched on the Wall, an army 10,000 strong. Aemon flew his dragon Vaegon north, and perched him atop the Wall, breathing fire down onto the Wildling Army below.
In 412 AC, Aemon found a Valyrian Steel Sword, he had it reforged and named it Dragon's Kiss, which would now be the new Ancestral Sword of House Targaryen.
In 418 AC, A unknown faction attempted to provoke Civil War in the Nine Kingdoms, leaving a bundle of documents implicating the High Septon as the leader of a conspiracy to depose King Aemon, and fracture the Realm. Aemon charged Lord Paramount Gaemon Goldfyre with the mission to discover these traitors, however the would reach Gaemon, before he reached them, killing him.
The remaining years of Aemon's reign were fairly, uneventful, marked only by marriage and political intrigue. Aemon held the realm together with an Iron Fist. None dared challenge his power after he had spent 10 years fighting Foreign Invaders and pretenders to the Throne alike, having summarily put each and every challenge down with a resounding ferocity. Additionally, with his age his zealotry diminished, till by 430 AC he was not concerned with the affairs of religion, but rather whom his newly expected grandchildren by Rhaenys who had only at the time recently come of age, would wed.
In 433 AC, Aemon died peacefully in sleep, his memory able to arguably rival Aegon's.
Interlude - State of the Realm in 400 AC
History IV - The Ten Kingdoms
Titles: Rhaenys of the House Targaryen, the First of her name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealady of Braavos, Princess of Pentos and Protector of the Realm, the Fair
Reign: 433 AC - 450 AC
Events: Rhaenys' reign was uneventful, as she acted as stabiliser for the realm. She followed the faith of the seven, and not the Red God R'hllor like her father, however nor was she a zealous woman and did not attempt to sway the counties who now worshipped at the temples of red priests.
Rhaenys was said to be the most beautiful woman in the Nine Kingdoms at the time, and she was formidable swordsman, akin to the likes of Jaime Lannister and Wyl Arryn. Furthermore, while she was not competent at steardary, or diplomacy, none had a mastery of the Battlefield like her, especially when she took flight on her Dragon, Maegal. She was lucky in that she faced no Blackfyre upstarts. She also defied tradition, marrying for love instead of loyalty. She married a low born Westerosi Valyrian named Clayton, whom she met while touring Flea Bottom in her youth.
The one notable act of her reign, was the Invasion of Pentos. The New Valyrian Empire had collapsed entirely, and the Dothraki Sea was currently ruled by some Horselord named Pono. Rhaenys was ever the ambitious woman, and saw the opportunity to seize a weakened Pentos, and expand the realm.
She raised her banners, and flew across the sea with the uncles, Lord Aegon of Blackwater Rush, and Lord Daegar of Cracklaw Point, to Pentos at the head of a fleet 140 ships strong, carrying 39,000 men. It was not long before Pentos' walls had been breached and the Princes Palace taken, however word reached Rhaenys, that her younger sister Baela Targaryen, had declared herself the rightful Queen and was marching 45,000 men from Qohor straight to Pentos. Unable to abandon the siege, Rhaenys dug in.
At the battle of Pentos, Rhaenys had to flee her army, as she went into the final few months of pregnancy and could not risk her child. Her army, in the absence was slaughtered. Only 17,000 of her men survived, while Baela lost 6,000 men. Next Baela marched on a 25,000 strong Tyrell host, south west of Pentos, while Rhaenys host retreated to the great arm while waiting for Rhaenys return.
After soundly defeating the Tyrells, Baela next marched on the Blackfyre host, 35,000 strong. However Baela's scouts had not covered her flank, did not warn her of the 17,000 Crownlanders and 20,000 sellswords Rhaenys had hired who were chasing her host. Rhaenys flew on Maegal at the head of the army, however they could not reach the battle between the Blackfyres and Baela before the Blackfyre host was also defeated and sent running. However now battle weary, tired and facing a Dragon, Rhaenys sisters host was ripe for the picking.
After the hard fought battle was won, Rhaenys spared no time, she had a makeship block assembled, and personally beheaded her sister using Dragon's Kiss. She then marched back to Pentos, and finished what she had started, quickly taking the last holdouts from Pentos. She named a Velayron Cousin, Rhegor Velayron as Lord Paramount of Pentos, as reward for his families centuries of loyalty.
Furthermore, as the clever woman she was, she enacted several key reforms in regard to her family, unchaining all of the dragons in the dragonpits, and marrying all her daughters to her courtiers so she may keep them on as dragon riders, but so they would not continue to expand the already too large Targaryen family. A string of murders of newborn Targaryen babes, and odd ball distant cousins has been attributed to her, however that was just whispers and here-say.
Interestingly also, during her reign, Alysanne Celtigar fled the realm, with her husband Anthony Egen, and using a force of sellswords conquered the Summer Isles which ruled as Queen over. By the time of Rhaenys death, her son Kennard Egen now ruled as King of the Summer Isles.
Rhaenys would be taken from the realm in 450 AC, due to depression over the death of her husband, leaving the Realm in the hands of her son, Aemon II.
History V - The Sixteen Kingdoms
Titles: Aemon of the House Targaryen, the Second of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos, Prince of Pentos, Lord of the Three Daughters, Archon of Volantis and Protector of the Realm, the Able
Reign: 450 AC - 471 AC
Events: Aemon, as a young man had trained rigorously to live up to his grandfathers, and his namesakes reputation, often sparring with the Kingsguard. He tamed the dragon Baelix during his reign, a yellow beast, large and viciously fast, almost as powerful as Rhaegon, or Rhaegal, the two largest dragons.
However at the age of 14, Aemon was infected with Greyscale while meeting the Lords and Ladys of the realm under the supervision of his mother, Queen Rhaenys. Aemon was rushed to the Citadel, the infection having already consumed one of his arms, half his face, and a large part of his upper chest. The Archmaesters under Archmaester Obyern were successful in preventing the infection from spreading, and removing a chunk of it from his chest as well. However it left him deformed, half his face turned to stone. Aemon had already suffered from a club foot, and these two malformations prevented in from ever becoming as good as many of his ancestors in the art of sword fighting.
Aemon took the throne shortly after his wife, Rhaenys Blackfyre fell pregnant with their first child. Many early on believed Aemon's reign would be cursed when, within two months of taking the Throne, the dragon Maegal, Rhaegals offspring, attacked a newborn dragon, Ossaul, born of Rhaegon.
Aemon sought to turn this around, and in the shadow of his namesake's legacy, decided to plunge the Realm into a series of War's that would be called Aemon's Crusade. Firstly, the Free City of Tyrosh had invaded and taken Myr, as well as outlying Volantene lands. They had been threatening the seat of House Velayron, Pentos, as Aemon decided to start there. He called an invasion of Tyrosh, and sailed his armies across the Narrow Sea. Landing in Myr alongside Velayron forces, Aemon set his dragons loose against the city, breaking and burning its defenses easily. His wife, Heleana Blackfyre landed at one point on the battlements atop Aegal, wherein the city watch commander, backed by a cohort of Tyroshi pikemen preceded to charge her. Needless to say they were burned to ashes, but not before injuring Aegal badly enough to fly away from the Siege. After capturing Myr, Aemon flew to Tyrosh with his sister Alysanne on Volantix, and preceeded to burn the Tyroshi fleet, weaving amongst the ships as if they were simply rocks to avoid. Alysanne, a respected swordswoman landed on the Bleeding Tower, where the Archon of Tyrosh and his family resided. She held his children at swords edge, demanding he bend the knee and hand over his crown or watch his children die. He bent the knee.
Aemon named Ronnel Seaworth Lord Paramount of Myr, and Mark Bolton Lord Paramount of Tyrosh. Orginially Aemon planned to keep the two consolidated, but suddenly changed his mind. The reason for this remainig unknown. Many speculate he may have owed Ronnel Seaworth a favour, or prehaps he wanted to prevented his vassals from becoming more powerful, as he was also pushing laws to increase his authority in the Realm, by depowering his small council.
The Seaworths had long been in the Targaryen courts, as with a number of other houses that had been named the 'breeder' houses, for mass intermarrying between them as well as large numbers of children. Others included House Clegane, House Connington, House Lothson, House Vaith, House Cavillion, House Maeris, House Vikary, House Valbridge, House Corcourt, House Blackfyre of Kingslanding and a number of others. House Bolton on the other hand had largely been exiled after several Bolton's launched a rebellion against Lord Paramount Brandon II Stark., who had taken all but 2 Boltons heads, naming Maege Bolton Lady of the Dreadfort, and exiling Mark Bolton from the North, who fled to Kings Landing. Both House Seaworth and House Bolton had been influential houses during the War of the Five Kings and the Daenerys retaking of the Iron Throne. This led many to not question their ascension to the ranks of the great houses of Westeros, as it was felt to be deserved.
Aemon's bloodlust did not stop at Tyrosh however. He quickly set his sights on Lys. Lys's mainland holdings had been slowly eroded away by Volantis, leaving a handful of castle's as well as the Island Lys lay on under it's control. Aemon marched on from Lys, now reinforced with Tyroshi and Myrish soldiers under Bolton and Seaworth banners. Aemon took a number of castles and towns along the coastline, capturing several enemy commanders and slaying several others. Ser Uther Moore stuck his sword through the head of Lord Freeholder Nobho, Lord Aelor Targaryen dropped another from several hundred metres in the air etc. Then several months into the campaign, Volantis had unexpectedly also attacked Lys, capturing the Archon who swore his lands to Volantis, stealing Aemon's desires away from him. In his fury, Aemon led his armies toward Volantis vowing to burn all in his path till both Volantis and Lys were his.
At Rynlos, Archon Donelos Maegyr was pushed into a ditch by Lord Paramount Aerys Velayron, before being run through the chest with Aerys' new Valyrian steel sword, Herald which featured a hippocampus on the pommel with Sapphire eyes. It was not long before Volantis was under siege from the combined strength of a dozen Westerosi and Essosi armies, including Dorne, The Vale, Braavos and various others. The Blackfyre fleet blockaded the ports with the aid of the dragons Rhaegal and Rhaegon. Within 3 months, Volantis surrendered.
Aemon named Robin Clegane Lord Paramount of Lys, and Aemon's own bastard brother, Aegon, was given a new house and sigil, House Truedrake which had a silver three headed dragon holding a sword on a dark blue field as the sigil and was made Lord Paramount of Volantis.
Volantis had also held the Lands of Andalos, between Braavos and Penntos, Aemon consolidated these and gave the seat of Seven Star's to Lord Paramount Lyman of House Tarly, the new Lord Paramount of Andalos.
Aemon's crusade was not over however. Many years ago, Alysanne Celtigar, one of the Daughters of the now dead Lord Aerion Celtigar of Claw Isle had used her personal fortune to raise an army and invade the Summer Isles, naming herself Queen. She had since passed on, leaving her son Kennard Egen as King of the Summer Isles. Aemon recruited Alysanne's brother Aerion Celtigar, named for his father, and pressed his claim on the Summer Isles. A fleet of almost 1000 ships sailed south, Targaryen, Blackfyre, Truedrake, Clegane, Martell, Tyrell and Velayron sigils fluttering in the wind, as three dragons, Baelix, Baeliphax and Maegal roared above them.
By the second month of 456 AC, Aemon's army landed, quickly annihilating the Summer Islander forces. Aemon used his dragon, as well as his cousin's dragons to burn the dense Jungle, cutting pathways through it so his armies could march without hindrance from Summer Islander guerrilla tactics who attempted to use the Jungle their advantage. Within a year, Aemon had succeeded, and shortly after being made King Aerion Celtigar, Aerion laid down his crown at Aemons feet, and rose as Lord Paramount of the Summer Isles.
Aemon had planned to push east, and retake Dragon's (Slaver's) Bay in the name of his ancestor, Daenerys but was stopped, when his wife Rhaenys Blackfyre had a miscarriage of their fourth child. Oddly however, the child had dark black hair, despite both parents having silver white hair. To this day, Rhaenys claims she was poisoned to have a miscarriage, which may have caused the Black hair. Aemon believed her.
Regardless the death of what he believed to be his son, calmed his vengeful wrath, and Aemon's crusade ended following a few brief wars against minor lords in the Rhoynar valley, Aemon himself never leaving Westeros again. Aemon would name Alyn Yronwood as Lord Paramount of the Rhoynar.
Over the remainder of his reign, Aemon was the target of a number of plots, like 'The Burning Wolf' plot to implicate Brandon III Stark as having commited treason, which Aemon did not fall for, as well as a number of attempts to murder King Aemon, usually prevented by him or his Kingsguard.
In 462 AC, the Eleventh Blackfyre rebellion was started by 'King' Vaegon Blackfyre, who had no support from any great house, including the Blackfyres of the Stepstones. Crushed quickly at the battle of Duskendale, Vaegon was killed by his own distant cousin, Rhaenys Blackfyre.
In 464 AC, Rhaegal slaughtered a younger dragon, again newly hatched called Caegal, who was in fact Rhaegals own grandson. Furthermore, Robert Tyrell overthrew his cousin, Lord Paramount Andrew Tyrell and took his postion for himself, leaving Andrew as Lord of the Northmarch.
In 465 AC, Aerion Celtigar's son, Aelyx Celtigar made succession in the Summer Islands equal for men and women, making his daughter, Jaenera Celtigar his heir. Furthmore Alearys Velayron tamed the dragon Baeliphax, becoming the first Velayron in roughly 200 years to ride a dragon.
In 466 AC, Aemon began colonising Sothoryos, and the remaining Basilisk Isles that New Ghis had not already taken. In this year, Goromosh was the first colony to reach completion.
By 470 AC, A number of houses like Houses Stark and Arryn, House Clegane and Bolton and Houses Yronwood and Seaworth created Alliances, increasing factionalism in the realm, and beginning to set battle lines for a possible civil war, as the realm had been at peace for roughly 10 years now. The Tension continued to build after the mysterious death of Aelyx Celtigar and his daughters and son, whom all died at roughly similar times . The family had recently converted to the local culture but before long died, leaving Aelyx's brother, Aerys Celtigar as Lord Paramount.
Aemon died in 471 AC, no one knows quite how or why, only that he died in the night, shortly after his son Daemon was named Lord of Dragonstone.
Titles: Daemon of the House Targaryen, the First of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos, Prince of Pentos, Lord of the Three Daughters, Archon of Volantis and Protector of the Realm, the Short-Lived
Reign: 471 AC - 472 AC
Events: Daemon succeeded his father in 471 AC, quickly presenting himself as a stickler for the rules. He arrested a number of prominent figures in his court for various actions that while low-level, did break the law. This inquisiton, nicknamed Daemon's Inquisition, went on for several months until Lady Tanda Lannister confronted him. She was one of Tyrion Lannisters granddaughters, nicknamed 'the Lionheart' and was often compared to the great figure Olenna Tyrell, 'the Queen of Thorns' who lived during Aerys' III, Robert's, Stannis's and Daenerys' reigns.
She forced the release of her niece, Amarya Lannister, and by all account's "put Daemon in his place".
In the first month of 472 AC, Daemon's sister-wife, Heleana Targaryen became pregnant, roughy around the same time Daemon held a grand tourney of the realm, to placate brewing tensions among the Great Houses, especially the ones in Essos who had begun squabbling over small villages and towns. the great free cities had never clearly defined their borders as the Westerosi had done between the Kingdoms, and so arguments had begun to break out over which village belonged to whom, and which Lord they payed their taxes to. This were beginning to esclate into small skirmishes between the forces of each lord, and Daemon saw it was only a matter of time before Civil War erupted in Essos.
However, during Daemon's tilt against Ser Aegon Connington, Aegon, hit Daemon at an exposed point in his armour, running his lance through the King, leaving Daemon gurgling blood on the floor, and dying quickly after. As his wife was still pregnant, and he thereby had no heir, Daemon's brother, Viserys took the throne, rushing in with a small armed guard to make sure no-one attempted to contest his claim in favour of Daemon's unborn child. He would be crowned, a month later, following Daemon's funeral as King Viserys, Third of his name.
Some Details may be exaggerated or altered to fit storyline purposes.

"300 years ago, my ancestor, Aegon the Conqueror took the Seven Kingdoms with fire and blood.
He cconquered them with his three dragons, Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes. He took them with fire and blood. And here I am, Daenerys Targaryen, at the gates of Kings Landing with my three dragons, Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. I too am a conquerer. So bend the knee, or burn."

The Greater Kingdom of Westeros, or the Nine Kingdoms are it was normally called in 400 AC had now been ruled by the Targaryen Dynasty for almost 400 years, with a brief patch of Baratheon / Lannister rule in the mid to late 300's. The Targaryen Restoration was achieved by Queen Daenerys Stormborn, the first Queen on the Iron Throne. The Realm had come a long way since however, going from Seven Kingdoms to Nine.
The Nine Kingdoms of Westeros: King Aemon of House Targaryen
Firstly, King Aemon the Wise of the House Targaryen, First of his name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Sealord of Braavos and Protector of the Realm ruled over the Nine Kingdoms.
House Targaryen had grown exponentially in recent years, leading to an unending list of claimants to the Throne. Furthermore the number of Dragons rose each year, as more dragons hatched and more produced eggs.
The Stormlands: Lord Paramount Edric of House Baratheon
Next, Traditionally, House Baratheon had been Lord's of the Stormlands, and had taken over from the original Storm Kings of House Durrandon during Aegon's conquest. King Robert Baratheon had also ruled the Seven Kingdoms, after rebelling against the Mad King Aerys, and killing his heir Rhaegar at the First Battle of the Trident. As well as King Stannis, Roberts brother who retook the Iron Throne for his family after the Lannister bastard, Joffery, under the Baratheon name assumed it. Lord Paramount Edric Baratheon, the great grandson of Shireen Baratheon now ruled over the Stormlands.
The Stepstones: Lord Paramount Daemon III of House Blackfyre
Thirdly, House Blackfyre had since its birth been a thorn in the Targaryen's side. By the 400 AC there had been a total of 10 Blackfyre Rebellions, launched a string of claimaints with delusions of grandure and that their ancestry gave them a right to the Iron Throne.
In more recent times, since Queen Daenerys reign, they had also become House Targaryen's closest ally. Daemon II Blackfyre had taken the Stepstones and declared himself King in the later 200's. In 316 AC, the Blackfyres, through marriage, bent the knee, under Daeron Blackfyre. Since then, at no point had the Blackfyres sided against the Targaryens. True they had not fought alongside them every time but the Blackfyres who ruled the Stepstones had pledged undying loyalty to House Targaryen ever since the Dragon Wedding. Even when facing their own kin during Blackfyre Rebellions, the Lord Paramounts of the Stepstones could be trusted to fight alongside the Targaryens. By the turn of the new century, the Stepstones were ruled by Lord Paramount Daemon III. He was known as 'the Dreamer' for his ability to see through the eyes of animals. That is why when dragon riders went to the Stepstones, the Dragons were always left behind during Daemon III's reign.
Dorne: Princess Sybelle of House Martell
The Reach: Lord Paramount Bernard of House Tyrell
The Westerlands: Lord Paramount Tarell of House Lannister
The Iron Islands: Lord Paramount Robin of House Greyjoy
the Iron Islands have long sought for their independence, and in the Choas of the War of Five Kings, they gained it. However, with fire and blood, Daenerys Stormborn brought them quickly back into the fold.
However within roughly 20 years of this, near constant civil war in the Iron Islands had caused the Greyjoys to flee to King's Landing and seek refuge with the Targaryens. Between the reigns of King Rhaegar and King Daeron III, the Iron Islands were consumed in civil war, with the Lord Paramouncy shifting on a yearly basis.
It wasn't until the intervention of King Daeron III who reinstalled the Greyjoys, making Vaeron Greyjoy Lord Paramount, and decreeing the tradition of Kingsmoot over in favour of the traditional primogeniture that the rest of the realm abides by, that normality returned to the Islands. House Greyjoy has not since sided against House Targaryen, however they have rarely sided with them either. Many speculate it is only a matter of time before they attempt to regain their independence once more.
The Riverlands: Lord Paramount Hoster II of House Tully
The Riverlands had been under the dominion of the Tully's since Aegon's conquest, however, after the War of the Five Kings, where the Riverlands gained independence as part of the Kingdom of the North, the Tully's seemed poised for a resurgence. Instead, King Rhaegar's conquest of the Riverlands, as well as several subsequent Rebellions left House Tully with only 1 member, a bastard daughter named Saenra. Rhaegar legitimised her, and took her as his ward back to Kings Landing, matrilineally marrying her so her House may survive.
In the interim, the Cadet House of the Targaryens, House Snowfyre, who were descendents of Jon Snow and Queen Daenerys Stormborn, were made Lords Paramount of the Riverlands. However, the Snowfyres proved less loyal, and within a generation had rebelled twice against the Throne. By King Daeron III's reign, the Tullys, now renewed with more numbers were reinstalled as Lords Paramount of the Riverlands, and house Snowfyre was reduced to Lords of the Trident, under House Tully. Since Aemon's repulsion of the Sunset Invasion, Lady Sallei Tully has pledged eternal loyalty to House Targaryen for restoring House Tully and saving their ancestral lands from extermination and sacrifice to demonic gods at the hands of the Sunset Empire. It remains to be seen if her son, Lord Paramount Hoster II will honour this pledge.
The Vale: Lord Paramount Pearse of House Arryn
Ever since the War of the Five Kings, House Arryn has been renowned for its isolation behind the Bloody Gate. The Vale has distanced itself from the realm, independent in all but name. It is only following the Sunset invasion, that this fact has changed, as Pearse's father Lord Paramount Robert II also swore eternal fealty to House Targaryen following the defeat of the Sunlanders. Only time will tell if the two grow closer, or if the Vale will attempt to gain its independence.
The North: Lord Paramount Eddard II of House Stark
The Starks of Winterfell are the oldest house in the Nine Kingdoms, dating back to the time of the First Men. The Starks, as well as the rest of the North have always viewed 'the South' as a vastly different place, and have never quite associated themselves as closely with the rest of the realm. The North, alongside the Riverlands and the Iron Islands are the only Kingdoms to properly achieve their independence under King Robb Stark. Furthermore, Robb Starks grandson, King Brandon Stark was the first man to kill a dragon in over a century, which only served to enflame the Norths idea of being truly independent. House Targaryen has attempted to quell this by marrying daughters into House Stark, which has gained some loyalty between the two.
The Night's Watch: Lord Commander Haerys of House Baratheon
The Night's Watch is the military order that has guarded the Realms of Men against the Wildlings north of the Wall. The Idea wass toyed around with to invade the Wildling realm under King Aegon VI's reign, however it was determined they are too independent and too wild to rule. Instead the Nights Watch's number has been bolstered with a new law setting a quota for number of men each Kingdom must provide, while relaxing various rules the Nights Watch has. The 1001st Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, Haerys of House Baratheon, brother of Lord Paramount Edric was sent there after rebelling against his brother. He has successfully repelled one major Wildling attack by the Frozen River Clans and proven a capable Lord Commander.
Braavos: Lord Paramount Gaemon of House Goldfyre
House Goldfyre is the most recent cadet house of House Targaryen, and was early on given Lord Paramouncy over Braavos. the Lord's Paramount of Braavos have sinced proved loyal to House Targaryen, being the only major house that has yet to rebel against the Throne. The two Houses frequently intermarry, which aid's this loyal relationship.
Hand of the King: Lord Jon of House Mormont, Lord of the Kingswood
Lord Jon Mormont has served as Hand of the King for a large portion of Aemon's Reign. Under Queen Daenerys, Jorah Mormont wass made Lord of the Kingswood, and ever since Lord Tyrion Lannister's tenure as Hand of the Queen under Queen Daenerys Stormborn, the Mormonts have served as the majority of the Hands of the King under essentially every king since. Lord Jon has proven to be a capable hand himself, and a close friend of King Aemon.

House Martell had resisted Aegon, and the successive attempts of a number of other Targaryen kings attempts to conquer Dorne. They were famed for their Passion and ferocity, and had been staunch allies of the Targaryens, even when Daenerys returned, they did not fight against her like most other houses, instead welcoming Targaryen rule once again. However in recent years this loyalty has waned in favour of Dornish Isolationism and renewed calls for Independence along with the North.
The Tyrell's of High Garden have been the bread basket of the realm, providing food to the rest of the Realm. Since the Gold mines of Casterly Rock had dried up around 300 AC, making the Tyrells the wealthiest House after House Targaryen, whom had received large sums of Gold from Daenerys time in the Bay of Dragons, formerly Slavers Bay. House Tyrell's loyalty was extremely changeable, and more often than not they would not enter wars in the Realm until it was clear which side was winning. Lord Paramount Bernard Tyrell was no exception to this rule.
House Lannister had been the most troublesome house for the Targaryens, since Lord Tywin's betrayal of King Aerys during Roberts Rebellion, and the subsequent slaughter of the Targaryen heirs as well as their brief reign over the Seven Kingdoms under King Joffery. In the early years of the Targaryen Restoration, the Lannisters more often than not sided against the Targaryens, regardless of the reasons for war. In recent times however this trend has changed, with the Lannisters staying neutral, save for the Sunset Invasion, where they, along with the rest of the realm, fought alongside the Targaryens. Lord Paramount Tarell is a cautious man, calculating like his ancestor Tywin, but compassionate as well. Only time will tell if House Lannister becomes loyal to the Targaryens, or if they will be removed from power in the end.
the Iron Islands have long sought for their independence, and in the Choas of the War of Five Kings, they gained it. However, with fire and blood, Daenerys Stormborn brought them quickly back into the fold.

Many speculate it is only a matter of time before they attempt to regain their independence once more.
