Hey guys, I didn't want to put this in the bug report thread because I don't think it is, but I'm having a helluva time getting the latest version to load on my Mac. I recently updated from CK2+ 3.10.X to 4.01.3 along with the latest base game update, and I have not been able to load CK2+ anymore. So here is where I am so far:
Relevant specs:
Macbook pro '15
CK2 2.4.5: checksum NFUF
Fresh reinstall of CK2, nothing in the documents folder for CK2, so no cache or otherwise
From dropbox:
I downloaded the .rar file and extracted it into the mod folder in documents. Two things are there: a folder 'CK2Plus' and 'CK2Plus.mod'. This is different than described in the installation instructions in the main download thread, which claims I should be seeing a .zip archive rather than a folder. However, the .mod file does not show anything for an archive so I think the installation instructions may be from a couple versions ago.
Then I launch CK2 from the steam client, select CK2Plus, which is now the only visible mod, along with all DLC. The game begins to load and then when it reaches 'Processing Flags' it stops and crashes to desktop. Right as it crashes, the progress bar at the top also jumps back to 'Loading Sounds', but I don't think that is relevant. (I also don't see the CK2+ logo on load that I used to see, but the folder 'gfx/loadingscreens' appears to no longer be there so that might not be an issue.)
From workshop download:
So, I thought maybe the dropbox version was corrupted or something, dunno, so I went into the steam workshop and subscribed to the mod. Waited for it to download, and then I went to get it (Some of you seem to reference launching a mod downloaded from steam without having to do anything other than check a box, but I've never had that. Am I doing something wrong/missing something trivial? I've always, even for workshop stuff, had to move things into the documents/.../mod/ directory.). The steam version, which on macs downloads somewhere like ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/.../mod/ shows 'ck2plus.zip'. So, I look inside and it only contains the folder 'ck2plus' which has 'descriptor.mod' inside it. This .mod file is identical to the one from the dropbox .rar except this one references the .zip archive rather than simply a folder. Okay, so I delete /gfx and everything from mod/ again, copy the .zip into mod/ and copy the .mod file as well. Then I launch the game as before, and I get a CTD at 'Processing Flags' in the same manner as above.
My main question is, as I know this is working for many people, does anybody have any idea why this is happening? I saw the previous guy in the bug thread fixed it by reinstalling, but when I've done that nothing has changed. It could be a problem with my machine, but it's definitely not that it isn't powerful enough. I also have no problem loading and playing vanilla, HIP, CK2+ 3.10 or any of the mods that I've made for my own enjoyment. My best guess is that it's not liking something with in the gfx, and that is the part I understand the least about. The gfx cache appears to make a few composite .tga files with all the flags condensed into just a handful of mega files. Could it be that my machine doesn't like something in one of the CK2+ flags? I'm not even sure if those changed at all between 3.10 and now.
tl:dr please help
