Hi, I just bought CK2 but can't have it working. When I try to play with steam, when the first page of CK2 appears and I click on Play Now, this dissappears but nothing happens. I've also tried to have it working directly through the ck2.exe.. but have me an error 0xc000007b and didn't work..

Someone has a solution? How can I contact the support team of paradox directly?

Thank you.

First thing I would recomend is to verify integrity of game cache that all the files of the game is right. You can find it by pressing right mouse button over the game in library page on steam. Then choose properties and choose local files sub section and there should be the button for "verify integrity of game cache". Let is check the files and it will download those files again that aren't correct. Then try to launch the game again.

You are in the right place to get help so just be patient and let people help you.

Thanks for response. I've actually done this and all files were verified. Tried to launch game again but the same problem occured... When I press the "Start CK2" button in the CK2 welcome page, this page disappears and nothing occurs...

Try navigating to the game executable ck2.exe and run that directly; if that works then Wezqu is correct and you have a .NET problem.

If that still fails, we'll get you fixed here. First look at the "Known issues" sticky thread above, and make sure you have applied solutions #4 and #6 there.

If they don't help, please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

Hi,

My .net framework seems fine. It's Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (version 4.0.30319). As I said, when trying to play with Steam, launcher disappears when I press the "Start CK2 button". If I try with the executable ck2.exe, the next error appears..

TRANSLATION: The aplication could not start correctly (0xc000007b). Click Accept button to close it.

You click, message error disappear and, obviously nothing occurs.

Beneath this lines I copy the dxdiag.txt.. I dont know how to get the other info you ask for... I'm a bit retard in computer matters..

I've seen theres people with similar problems... The truth is this is quite upsetting. Thanks for previous help.

I dont know how to get the other info you ask for.
They are in the CK2 directories under MyDocuments. settings.txt is right there, the others are in /logs/ under that.

I have no settings.txt file... nor logs.

In "C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II" there's none of this files. I bought the game at Gamestop and I downloaded the game using it's launcher (dont know if this could explain something). The other game files are located inside the Steam file, but there's nothing there either.

The only file that I've found in my documents (not in a folder) is the installscript_log.text.

I don't know? Any clue? Is there noone else with my same problem?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II"
Normal Steam users don't even get that directory, whether this is a Gamestop thing I have no idea. Everything should be under the Steam/steamapps/common/ckii directory, or MyDocuments.

Try a full clean reinstall: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Program Files, Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

I installed the latest vc redist both x86 and 64 and nothing happened.

I did also uninstall CK2 with steam and then I removed manually all ck2 files from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II" and from steam. From My documents I didn't cause as said previously Ithere are no CK2 files there. I also removed the "impulse" files. This is the application Gamestop makes you download to install there games. Then I installed the game with steam.

I tried to play with steam. I clicked on "play" and this image of the launcher appeared. CK2 Launcher image.jpg. I clicked on "Start CK2", the launcher disappeared and nothing happened.

I tried through the ck2.exe and this image appeared again.Image error.jpg....

Well, you have some Windows problem, I'm not sure what. 0xc000007b just means "application failed to initialise properly" and can be due to many different causes, from a corrupt .exe (which we've eliminated I think) to missing files to malware. Have you run Windows Update and applied everything it suggests?

I installed the latest vc redist both x86 and 64 and nothing happened.

Ok! Finally made it work!

This is what I did:

1) Made a system restore (in safe mode) to a few days ago.

2) Unistalled the game again, with steam, and manually deleted all the game files in my computer.

3) I installed all the possible Microsoft Visual C++ x86 and x64, years 2005, 2008 and 2010. If it was already installed.. I repaired.

4) I installed the game again with steam..

It worked, I dont know what exactly made it, cause somethings had been done already but it worked.

Thanks to all; especially to AndrewT.

Brilliant! Good to hear and thanks for the update.
