Howdy!

The last 2 weeks when i've attempted to start Stellaris or CK2 the launch window comes up. I start either game with no mods loaded but all DLC's purchased checked and the game does not start. A small tab opens up at the bottom of my taskbar (WIN10) and my mouse disappears. I can hear the in game music that normally plays however my system becomes fairly unresponsive. I attempt to END TASK (it shows 'not responding') but my mouse is still gone. Short of that story is the computer must be restarted to recover and find the mouse again. I attempted to use the integrated video card as a work around without positive effect, reloaded a microsoft .net framework thing i get errors about but have never caused an issue before now(didnt seem to help) and repaired through Steam/reinstalled the entire client. I also tried changing the settings to 640x800 and running as admin/ compatiability mode for win 7 and 8. Disabled MSI Dragon Center. Also checked into Norton AV to make sure the program is allowed, looks like everything is green and good on that end. Going to reload drivers now as i run to town but not real confident that will help as i tried it with the integrated card earlier...

Would you be able to assist in this issue or point me in a good direction? Seems to have only affected Paradox games. Might try after a bit to see if EU4/HOI and Cities is affected. (EU4 works) Thanks!!

HAHA I think i got it working ok now. I went into the GeForce Experience application after making sure the drivers were up to date. From there i was able to select if the game would run in Windowed/Borderless/Fullscreen. It was set to Fullscreen. I changed it to Borderless and for the first time the loading screen came up after the launcher however it seemed to stall aout and eventually the screen went white and the spinny mouse wheel of death etc etc. So i closed the application and then selected Windowed mode and it worked just fine.

It would be nice to run it in Fullscreen, however i am just really happy it is running now. I'll give Stellaris the same treatment but i am pretty confident this will be a good workaround. Sorry to take up your time, but if anyone else is having this issue- there is a quick fix.

We've seen that caused by recent Windows 10 updates to nVidia users, for their 1xxx and 2xxx cards. Is that what you have?

Interesting, with the 1xxx cards the must-run-in-windowed-mode issue was introduced in the April 2018 Windows 10 updates , but seems to have dropped off recently. Still happens with the 2xxx cards though. Are you sure your Win10 is up to date? And nVidia drivers?
