I have a good PC gamer and my PC meets the CK3 system requirements. Since I bought Friends en Foes DLC and installed it, the game keeps crashing at launch. I can't even come back to Windows, the keyboard is useless, I have to reboot the pc. Since I play video games, it's been a long time it hasn't occured to me. Does anyone else has the same issue ?

Reactions:
Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here. IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

If these attached files can help me, thank you. I have not exceptions.txt file in CK3 or logs folder.

After those settings I gave you, you shouldn't see any more than 60 fps while playing the game. Is that what you see now?

Or does it crash too quickly to see?

I crash on the loading screen : the wheel stops turning around and my PC is out. I can't access any program, I have to manually reboot Windows. You can find the files in my previous post. Thank you if you can solve this problem.

When a program crashes the operating system?!?

File a bug report to ones who make your operating system.

The good operating system should never crash when running a normal program.

Hey man, don't know if you've seen it already but theres a bug report currently on revision by the devs here https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/game-crashing-after-windows-11-24h2-update.1718749/ if you want to check it regularly to be updated on our issue

Just found this ancient post. FYI the Refresh Rate cap hasn't been working for a long time, at least back in 2024.

If you select a refresh rate cap lower than your max refresh rate, the game won't save it, and it will revert back to max setting the next time you launch. You will understand what I mean when setting refresh rate cap, press Play, quit, and then open up Paradox launcher again.

You can also check the setting file in Document Paradox folder as well to confirm.
