  • Crusader Kings III
Hey everyone,

I’m having a frustrating issue with Crusader Kings 3—the game keeps crashing every time the loading reaches 100%. I’ve already gone through all the common troubleshooting steps, but nothing has worked.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
✅ Verified game files through Steam
✅ Reinstalled the game completely
✅ Updated GPU drivers and Windows
✅ Cleared the CK3 Documents folder (mod & cache folders)
✅ Checked for conflicting background apps

Despite all this, the game still crashes right when it reaches 100% on the loading screen, my hardware meets the requirement of the game.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? I’d really appreciate any help!

Has the game ever worked on this PC in the past? If so, when did this start happening? If you could also attach a DxDiag that'd be great as your settings file suggests you're using an integrated graphics card and the game doesn't support this.
Generate DxDiag:
  1. Hold the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. Tap the R key to open the Run window.
  3. In the pop-up window, type: dxdiag
  4. Press the Enter key
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will load.
If there is a pop-up window asking about digital driver signing; click Yes to proceed.
  5. Click the Save all information button
  6. Click the Save button
The file should be saved to your desktop as dxdiag.txt
  7. Click the Exit button

And, IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

First please check with HUAWEI for an update to that 2021 Intel Xe video driver. If they don't have one, try here

Then unload every other app you can before starting the game.

If that doesn't help, please make a new dxdiag.txt - but this time wait for the green load bar to finish before hitting Save All Info, so it is complete this time.

Good luck!

i also have this issues 2 years ago with the same laptop which is a asus tuf a15 or f15 with a 8 GB ram and a AMD ryzen 4000 series manage to run this easily but now it keeps crashing i did everything verify uninstall reinstall shortern the display turned off vsync gave the max amount of virtual memory updated drives CPU everything yet it still crashes at the same area as soon as i heard the menu music and the game freezed which i suspect is when i should be seeing the main menu then it crashesbefore it opens

Please expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/openpag...increasing-paging-file-size-windows-computers
AND exit every other app you can before starting the game.

IF that doesn't help, Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

This may have some fixes. not 100% fool proof but it may have the fixes that maybe relevant. I am trying to make a mega thread for Paradox so they know this is a massive issue and for some reason haven't made a mega thread (because logic)
