This one is a real head scratcher. I have no idea what could be causing this, but whenever I first launch the game it sits on a black screen (or white if windowed) for a few minutes before loading the splash art for a few seconds and getting into the menu.

The game itself runs quickly, I can reload saves quickly. It's only launching the game that's a problem.

Game is installed on an SSD, this is the only game I have any kind of technical issues with.

Desktop specs
intel 9700k
nvidia 2070
intel ssd
16gb ram

my laptop is very much inferior to this and yet launches the game much faster. Has anyone else had problems with excessive launch times?

I haven't noticed any other such reports, I agree that is very strange!

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Done, thanks for the reply!

Just to check - A: and C: are both internal drives, is that right?

If you launcher the game, exit it, then launch it again immediately - is it any better? This is seeing if it's coming from Windows file cache or not.

Yes, both internal drives. It was originally installed on A and the paradox folder was in C so I reinstalled it so they'd be on the same drive and it didn't change the load time.

Relaunching the game does not make it launch faster unfortunately.

If you exit the Steam app entirely then run ck3.exe directly from Windows Explorer is it still the same?
