Hi

Pretty much the title.
Playing as Castile, I have PU Portugal and England. They have a CN nation in Colombia... therefore... there are some missions I cannot fulfil, because they require that "me or my vassals" control de territory. Apparently the vassal of my PU, doesn't count (which is a bit annoying and inconsistent, isn't it?)

In this case, the missions are "New Kingdom of Granada" (that requieres to control all Colombia Colonial Region) and "Viceroyalty of Spain" (that requieres to control all Mexico Colonial Region).

Is it not a but absurd that your Personal Union's CN doesn't count for fulfill the missions requirements?

This is my particular case (both Portugal and England are my PU). They have now CN in Colombia, so, I cannot fulfill the New Kingdom of Granada" mission.
Any idea how could I solve this (apart from integrating Portugal and England)

In the same spirit, the mission "Found Havana" requires that me or my vassal hold the province of Havana, and build a Workshop there. Again if the province is held by me or my vassal, I can build the Workshop. But if the province is held by the CN of my PU... I cannot build the Workshop, therefore, complete the mission. Shouldn't be possible to build buildings in your vassal's vassal provinces?

Apart from the mission problem, shouldn't there be some way to prevent that your PU colonizes provinces that you want to colonize yourself? In my game, Portugal colonized the Cape, which is a bit annoying. It would be quite logic to be able to restrict where you vassal (or PU) can colonize, even if it cost Liberty Desire or whatever.

Thanks in advance for your comments

Yeah, that's an annoying situation for sure. The only real way through the issue that I can think of is to integrate your PU which would make the CNs your direct subjects allowing you to complete the mission.

yeah, that is definitely an option, but I don't want to integrate Portugal yet.

Another thing (that I already did in Mexico), is to win a war up to 100% war score with a minor, and give away Portugal Mexico's provinces (if you have 100% war score they will take provinces, even if they don't want them). This way I can have another war in the future and keep the privinces for myself. This gives you a -100 opinion with Portugal thought...

I think the mission conditions should be revised and make that your vassal's vassal's provinces would count for the mission. And also, to be able to build on your vassal's vassal's provinces.

I did a very similar playthrough with Portugal as a colonizing PU, and when I eventually integrated Portugal all their colonial nations merged with mine across the Americas. I would do this before Portugal gets too wealthy and developed from colonizing because then it will take longer to integrate them.

You're right about vassals vassals though, that would make sense more sense to me.

If your colonial nation has CB on another nation, you can ask it to start war in colony, at the bottom of the subject interaction menu. You can't join the war, but neither can your PU subject. To help your colony win you can pay off their loans, donate some extra with send gift, and use the manpower and officers boosts in the subject interaction menu.

Yes, that is another option, but that would eliminate a colonial nation that would give me another trader when I eventually integrate Portugal.

Anyhow, the core of the issue, I think, is that my vassal's vassals don't count as my vassal in order to fulfill missions, and I think that makes no sense.

Yes, that is the plan, and that makes sense: while Portugal exists, its vassals give him traders (if the CN has more than 10 provinces). Once you integrate Portugal, its vassals become your direct vassals, therefore, give those extra traders to you.

What doesn't make sense and IMHO, is bad design, is that your vassals vassals provinces don't count for you in order you fulfill missions.
