So, I started another game with a mod adding AI extra bonuses and more aggression as a Jewish Brazil escaped from a Western island. The first attempt was unsuccessful: Portugal dropped a colonist right near the door and started a war with my native ally, so I couldn't win. But the 3rd attempt was a good shot for me: I closed the doors and Portugal went Africa and Caribbean. I had extra 20 years to grow, but this time France knocked the door. I already had 3 native vassals and was successful to defend and get the money boost. At the year of 1500 there were a lot of Spanish colonies on the continent, but I found the interesting thing: colonies have no allies, any protection and their military is very limited. This time I had 50 military limit, but it was enough to send 10 troopers to conquer the whole colony (they had 0 soldiers ATM) almost for free within a year defending from inadequate Portugal. I got about 15 counties with war score cost close to 0 each, 18 in total. And I have a lot of colonies around me as for now: so it's like getting free meal every time. The only con here is to convert the culture while colonizing a county provides your culture by default, but the conversion is cheap.
I only can't make tributary states. Last time I had a lot of them playing Jewish Malaysia.
