I'm reading the book series Perry Rhodan and i really enjoy it. In this series the humans spread out and colonize other planets. For example the Humans colonized Gladors, but they began unexpectedly to shrink, because of the radation of their sun, on other conolys the residents changed because of the high gravity. The biological variation followed that they possessed certain other skills. For example the Humans who where born on Gladors are exelente micro mechanics.
Now my question is, are there any similar effects in the game ?

I'm getting the feeling that the timescale involved in the game won't be long enough for natural evolution to change a species enough. I am hoping you'll be able to genetically engineer your own people and not just pre-FTL species you encounter, though.
