Colours all washed out 1.08 SUBR Win7 64 laptop

Program loads up, but all washed out.

Load up HOI3 or AGEOD games, colour Ok


But sometimes other programs leave colours washed out. Then run another program and they re-set.


Does AoD do something strange on loading up?

Edit - Victoria Revolutions washed out, CK1 too. EU3 OK - beginning to look like old Paradox engine issue?

Update graphics drivers, on laptops with switching graphics there are two drivers to update.
Please try to run aodgame.exe in XP compatibility mode.

I did a test from within Windows and it said my graphics - Intel HD - were up to date. But how do you mean there are two drivers to update?


TOAW, old microsoft card/dice/casino games are OK.

HOi1 is washed out. Diplomacy is OK - I must be one of only 3 people who have this game on a laptop.

Further Edit - did major clearout of files, fiddled with Intel GMA HD settings and now from the last two start ups from cold it seems to work. so let's stop now - and thank you Denniss.

Could you post a DxDiag of your system? What he means further about the two drivers, a laptop often has 2 graphics cards, of which one is an integrated card and another graphics card. Both of these should be up to date to make the risk of having problems with either of them smaller.

• Open your Start menu
• Type "dxdiag" in the search field (without quotes)
• Open the dxdiag program
• A window called "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" should pop up now
• At the bottom right-hand side, click on "Save all information"
• Save it to a place where you can find it easily, for example your desktop
• Open the file and copy and paste the text between [NOPARSE]
  [/NOPARSE] tags.

You can copy the line below and paste the text between the orange tags.

Thanks Icatrox - but as all seems to be working now I would prefer to leave well alone. But I will remember your instructions and do what you say if the screen goes wonky again.
