As the incest question has already been asked, we now come the next important question: comets.

While we were limited to one planet, the number of comets we saw could be counted with max two hands. But since we are now goint to space, where comets are all over the place, we are bound to run into them much more often.

Excluding the obviously obligatory event:
The general populace is always superstitious and paranoid and the appearance of a comet in our sector has caused panic among our people. They are convinced that it is a spy ship from the hidden council of ape-people which secretly rules our federation or that it will crash into our home world as an ancient prophecy has foretold.

  • It´s called meteorite if it crashes into a planet. -1 Stability
What do you think we can exspect?
Harvesting them if they contain valuable ressources?
Weaponizing them or other space debris?
Building stations onto them or using them as space ships?
Seeding one with bacteria and DNS-strings and pushing them into space, just to look what happens?

Black hole sighted !
  • But... how can you even SEE a black hole ? -1 stab

I hope they'll do like V2 and make it appropiate. In V2, it gives you research points because you're living in enlightened times.
Unless of course it crashes into something. That'd be terrible.

On a more serious note I think that there should be a comet event but it shouldät give a stab hit. In fact I sincerely hope the game does not do stability like that. Perhaps a -100 to 100 stability where it's softcapped (imagine me suggesting a softcap) towards those values.

In Victoria, cause the positivism, the comet give some research point if I remember correctly , so in stellaris should give benefits too.
Comet sighted: Do you want to establish a mining outpost?

Comet sighted: Sacrifice a Xenos to appease the comet! +1 stability
