If you use the commando leader on non-commando units, you see only the -5, so maybe this is WAD (i.e., maybe commando oriented leaders do a bad job of leading ordinary troops)? But unless there is some hidden benefit, the commando trait looks pretty lame to me.

Before 1.06 Commando was described as "+10 for specialist troops and -5 for others". I'm pretty sure the two modifiers are not supposed to be combined.
